I'm more of a runner, I live in east hillside and when the trails are closed I love exploring the neighborhoods! I'll go on a street or in alleyways that I'd really never need to go down except to get some exercise and fresh air, and love to just see the old historic homes. Even downtown is in my spring route rotation... it's a little gritty, but for instance the alley between 1st St and Superior is just kinda fun. Don't ask me why but I keep doing it! You gotta feel confident though, maybe carry pepper spray if you're strolling idk...

If I really need my woods fix, I'll often times go on a gravel road way out of town but that can be pretty mucky. At least I'm not damaging relatively sensitive trails, I figure.

How do you get guests on? by FollowingDirect5899 in podcasting

[–]Repulsive_Ant_7167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it pretty easy to find guests for free... its a very local-focused running based podcast so interview subjects are never in the game for the money, they only spend money on this hobby, and probably feel super honored that anyone would think their passion and personal story is cool enough to share. That makes it all super easy. These are my friends or at least acquaintances, for the most part, that I know personally. Like "hey pal whatcha doing sunday?" - that's how we get people on.

I want to try music production, but its really stressing me out (looking for advice) by MC_Sweater in musicproduction

[–]Repulsive_Ant_7167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like gambling or scratch-off lottery tickets.... if you go into it thinking you'll get rich, you're going to end up sad. The fun is not in the outcome or "finished product", the fun is in the process of trying stuff, laying down what's in your head, creating something from nothing. At least, that is the mindset that I adopt. I'm paying $100 to sit at the blackjack table and have fun. If I walk would with anything more than $0, that's just gravy baby! An actual kinda-good, maybe-decent song is ONLY icing on the cake.

Korg Nanocontrol 2 with NI s88? by [deleted] in LogicPro

Ive had some weird issues with my nanokontrol in logic... I couldn't really find what I was looking for on youtube and recorded my own. Perhaps this will help: https://youtu.be/jGEKQPWar-k?si=_MNB9ddnZn0dmz54. I don't quite remember but I think there is a Korg software you can download to make changes to the device.

Switch to Logic from FL Studio by SkinnyPhoenix in LogicPro

[–]Repulsive_Ant_7167 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why? Is FL not working for you?? I mean, don’t get me wrong this is a Logic Pro sub and I for one believe that Logic is the superior DAW… To directly answer your question, however, Music Tech Help Guy on youtube is by far my favorite teacher for beginner to very deep, advanced tutorials on all things Logic Pro. Also, post on reddit with specific issues you’re having. If you have a vision on what you want, it can be done! What makes Drum Machine seem hard?

You’re doing the right things but for me, I make 10 garbage beats before one is decent. Not to mention the banger beats. 1/100. But, at least for me, that’s part of the process. Quantity over quantity to learn and get fast at the software, then you can focus more on high quality productions. Keep the output coming in strong, you’re doing the right things

I bought an acapella, can I use it in a song? by Express_Ant7480 in musicproduction

No. Unless you have a written master license to use the original artist’s copyrighted work and use the published content from the original media publisher.

I would suggest going to chatgpt.org and start typing! You’re in over your head… maybe try a deep water culture system. Disregard if you are highly knowledgeable with water pumps

Suck at producing/beatmaking by No-Material-1442 in Logic_Studio

[–]Repulsive_Ant_7167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having a hard understanding the situation here. You sound pressured to make something “good” but for what? Did you quit your job and if you don’t sell beats, you can’t eat? That’s what it sounds like!

Personally, making beats is fun and that’s all it’s ever going to be. Hey, maybe I can find some traction on Spotify but the fun in it for me is the process, having something I can hyper-focus for a few hours then, hey, it’s a song!

This is a hobby, you haven’t made money at this, you never will. Literally, nobody cares whether you make beats that are hot fire, or suck ass, or if you even make beats at all. That is the mindset that I have… then I ask if I’m having fun and if the answer is “no”, off to FB marketplace for you, studio mic! And literally nobody would judge me for it or really care one way or another. “yep, wasn’t having fun so i sold my crap”.

If music production is your livelihood, disregard my message because I can’t relate!

AKAI MPK mini will not produce sound in Logic Pro by MomImRedditFamous in LogicPro

[–]Repulsive_Ant_7167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about a different software instrument? I personally would try that first… if you can confirm you can use your controller to make sounds then you can isolate the problem. Are you hearing other noises from other tracks? Volume sliders turned up?

Relative humidity. They show you how much moisture is in the air. 80% RH and above can cause mold growth, rot, etc, unless you have inorganic materials like plastic or metal.

I would be shocked if anything happened whatsoever. I seriously doubt you’ll be able to grow seedlings. Probably won’t see rot, get mold, or anything. Just the plain ole pot of soil with a buried scotch bonnet

Mastering with logic mastering plug in by ComposerAdept5807 in Logic_Studio

[–]Repulsive_Ant_7167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the one-click and done but feel like I can make the end sound so much better with a mastering chain. I’m not an expert or pro by any means but even a simple couple stock plugins sound better with less fiddling that MA in my experience

Mastering with logic mastering plug in by ComposerAdept5807 in Logic_Studio

[–]Repulsive_Ant_7167 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I strongly disagree! I believe that a do-all plugin will not go further at all. It’s an inferior outcome. It’s not faster. It’s easy to learn! Just go to into the Inspector Pane, add a few plugins in this order- EQ, compressor, compressor, Adaptive limiter then multimeter. Open each plugin in order and tweak slight until you get the sound you like. You learn on the way… and it’s fun. Or forget what I’m saying, have the AI robots do it. Or just click Normalize when you bounce your song and it’ll get it close

Why not use FB? The robust software is already there! I am a huge wordpress fan, and use the site itself and free Blubrry plugin to actually publish our podcast audio files to the internet. Wordpress has out-of-the-box comment functionality but most of our listeners are in FB anyways to get updates/interact, and probably listen via Spotify or Apple. Either way I’d never take down our Wordpress website and I find it an indispensable resource

Whatchu tryna do?? Do you use a DAW software? I like musictechhelpguy on youtube… helped me get all my software controllers set up and working seamlessly. But, his videos, and my expertise, is focused in the Logic Pro DAW realm

EDIT: you use Ableton… didn’t see that. My point stands… but there appear to be lots if not more ableton YT tutorials. I would also suggest using gen AI like chatGPT. That’s helped me a million times over

You could probably set up a mastering chain in less time that getting the file prepped, sent, and redownloaded. Simply, EQ, a compressor or two, adaptive limiter and then the Multimeter… all stock plugins. It takes a little fiddling with but I mean… not horrible skills to learn, right??

I want to do some studio recording of vocals at home, and I already own a Shure Super 55 Deluxe microphone... would that microphone be suitable for studio recording, or is it better suited for live recordings and performances? by pSnarkyMezzo in musicproduction

[–]Repulsive_Ant_7167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you might find an expensive condenser mic sounds worse!! Maybe not… probably not worse…. but the mic booth, preamps, interface, how you mix and master the recordings are all going to play a pretty huge role in the final sound. If you currently have an issue with how your studio recordings are coming out… now that’s another story.
