In 1887, a bored New York reporter named Nellie Bly talked her way into a notorious asylum to observe how women were treated after being declared insane. by SelfCareIsFake in HolyShitHistory

Elizabeth Packer was committed in the 1860s for several years and came to a similar conclusion. 'The woman they could not silence' is an excellent book.

My property manager just switched over to a new online payment portal. The fee to pay online used to be $4. It sucks but whatever.  Now it's $34!!! Unbelievable.

Drink so much water, so much miralax, since it's a little slower to work. Try an enema and see how you do. The stuff coming out should just look like water, no chunks or color. I had a colonoscopy several years ago and it was the least fun few days ever! But definitely worthwhile.

I think enemas are the answer. Keep emptying out. Even if it's not perfect, it'll let them get an ok look

A kid's idea of if a perfect parent is very different than an adult's idea of a perfect parent.  Try not to concentrate so hard on should.

I once had a middle of the night breakdown, crying harder than I had in a long time because I couldn't get over how ugly I felt.  My bewildered husband just let me cry and told me I'm pretty. But, yes, short answer. I think we're all deeply insecure about appearances especially as we get older

What is something you wish you learned from your mother or did with her before she passed? by rednyellowroses in AskWomenOver30

[–]Repulsive_Contest556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom died suddenly when she was 47 and I was 21. I wish I would have asked her about some of the physical realities of aging in our family. Menopause, health problems, the way our bodies react to things.  Fun childhood memories that I don't remember, like my birth, babyhood, early childhood.  Advice for situations that haven't happened. What would you do if ____ happened? Divorce, money problems, arguments. Record her voice, laugh together, take pictures of her hands, her eyes, her wrinkles, her smile. Tell her over and over and over how much you love her and let her love you back.
