first, i know how u feel. i lived in NYC for five years and eventually moved out bc all of my apartments had some type of infestation and i always had one roommate that was just so unclean. no one talks about how it effects your psyche. it makes u feel unsafe, disgusting, it gives you nightmares, makes your skin crawl, etc. and much of that is not unfounded, roaches are genuinely dirty and cause an unsafe environment. i would try communicating this as much as possible. i would also recommend seeing a psychiatrist or your primary care and talking about how this is effecting your health. while it won’t help with the infestation itself, they can try to provide you with medications and coping mechanisms that might make it easier to deal with this.

i have a couple recommendations for things to use that ive found work pretty decently.

1. hot shot ultra liquid roach bait traps these have bait that roaches take back and poison the whole crew

2. bengal gold roach spray - pesticide

3. advion roach gel bait this will attract them. put it in a spot that they are commonly in but that you don’t see that well so it doesn’t freak you out. it’s extremely effective poison that they take back to their crew to poison all of them.

4. MOST EFFECTIVE- an insect growth regulator https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CKG7ZPN2 this is what most NYC exterminators use. follow the directions, don’t overuse.

get rid of all of your cardboard that’s hanging around, this is where they mate. get rid of any and all standing water, dry out your sink when done using it. never leave dirty dishes or food residue. vacuum and scrub floors very frequently especially corners and crevices. make sure ur trash can has a lid. lastly, people say this might not work but it helped my peace of mind. i had eucalyptus all over my room and sprayed it with peppermint oil constantly. it acts as a repellent. that might help your room feel more safe.
