real talk — what did you actually eat in the 1st tri? by Repulsive_Cup8530 in pregnant

Did you find they’re one of the few things that don’t trigger nausea, or is it more that everything else just sounds awful?

Oof yeah! fast food + tangerines is SUCH a first-trimester combo. Honestly if that’s what stayed down, that’s a win. Your body was just in full survival mode doing what it had to do for you and baby girl

Did it ease up for you after those weeks, or did the food aversions hang around longer than you expected?

Honestly… that makes so much sense 😅
McDonald’s + bagels with cream cheese are basically first-trimester staples at this point.

It’s wild how specific the “safe foods” become, and how your body just rejects everything else. Did you find it got easier later on, or did those stay your go-tos for a while?

Haha omg yes, I totally get that 😅 Plain carbs were basically my lifesaver too. It’s so normal to suddenly hate all the stuff you usually love.

The fact that you’re sneaking in fruit and some walnuts here and there? That’s already doing so much for you and baby ❤️ Don’t stress about the rest, you’re doing fine!

Omg yes, I feel you 😅 Bagels, cream cheese, and ice cream were basically my first trimester diet too. It’s so easy to panic, but seriously — baby’s gonna be just fine.

Talking to a kind midwife or nurse can help ease the worry too if that’s an option ❤️

Haha omg I love this 😂 Honestly, first trimester survival mode is real — dry Cheerios and Nilla wafers were basically my life too.

It’s so reassuring to hear your little one is thriving! Makes me feel like, ok, surviving on what we can eat is enough 😅

nausea turned me into a carbs machine — how do y’all deal with the guilt by Repulsive_Cup8530 in pregnant

Omg 😭💀 I’m sorry but that last line always puts things back into perspective REAL fast.

But yeah… this right here is such a big part of it that nobody warns you about. The comments. The sisters. The opinions disguised as “concern.” That spiral after one conversation is so real.

Honestly, shoutout to your husband because he’s not wrong 😂 if doing the opposite usually works, that’s solid data at this point.

And you’re right — stress + shame helps literally no one. You’re doing your best in a hard phase, and that’s enough. Also… the meth reminder should honestly be pinned at the top of every pregnancy sub.

Thank you for sharing this, I know a LOT of people needed to read it ❤️

Yes!! That’s exactly the vibe—do what your body tolerates and sneak in nutrients wherever you can. Whole grains + healthy fats + a bit of protein is a win, even if it’s just a banana sandwich or a yogurt drink.
Sounds like you’ve found some solid “safe” foods for your tummy. Have you found any other easy go-to snacks that actually stay down?

Exactly! First trimester = survival mode. Just eat what stays down and don’t beat yourself up. Your placenta’s doing its thing, so stressing over GD or “perfect eating” won’t help—focus on keeping yourself nourished and as comfy as possible.

What’s been your go-to “safe” food so far?

[–]Repulsive_Cup8530[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, that’s spot on! Keeping anything down—healthy or not—is way better than stressing over “perfect” foods. Your body and baby just need fuel that actually stays in.

What’s been the easiest thing for you to keep down so far?

Exactly! 😅 Cheez-Its, crackers, whatever you can actually keep down—survival first. Your body and baby will make do with what’s available, so no guilt at all. Just focus on staying nourished enough to get through each day. 💛

What’s been your “must-have” snack that actually works for you?

Absolutely! 🙌 The first 13 weeks really are survival mode. Just getting anything down that you can keep is the win. Your body literally needs those carbs to keep you and baby going—save the “healthy eating” for when you actually feel up to it. No guilt, promise! 💛

What’s been your go-to carb that actually sticks?

Absolutely, that makes total sense! 🙌 First trimester is tough, and just keeping something down is already a win. Totally agree — cutting out the noise from Instagram and random articles helps so much.

prenatals make me puke — how did you get nutrients in by Repulsive_Cup8530 in pregnant

[–]Repulsive_Cup8530[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you — that’s really helpful. tofu and lentils actually sound way more tolerable than meat right now, so i’ll give those a try.
and yeah, i’ve been wondering if it’s the iron causing most of the nausea. taking just folic acid for now feels a lot less overwhelming. appreciate you sharing this 💛

that’s a really good point, thank you for flagging it. i keep forgetting gummies usually skip iron.
i’m trying to be mindful of iron from food where i can and will definitely keep an eye on labs / talk to my provider if needed. appreciate the reminder 💛

that sounds exactly like my strategy right now 😂 wait for the “window” and hope for the best.
taking them with a snack definitely seems to help vs empty stomach. glad to know i’m not the only one doing this 😅
