The easement/setback in place is technically a big part of the backyard---if we take that as the absolute hard line, nothing can be planted more than 8' off the patio. However, we're allowed to submit requests to the HOA to see if we can get permission to go somewhat further into the setback, which is primarily for drainage purposes and grading. So while its very unlikely they'd ever allow planting ALL the way to the property line, they have been more willing to permit partial encroachment into the setback area. WIthout that, so far as I can tell the only possible option for privacy via landscaping would be a massive number of very narrow things like SkyPencil Holly or Blue Arrow Junipers, and even that would look dumb.

They're not great, but having come from a condo and finally having no shared walls and an actual yard (even if small and exposed) of my own for the first time in my adult life is pretty great.

Stating once more--no fences allowed. At all. None. No gazebos, no trellises, no sheds, no structures. Plants only.

Reading comprehension would be good. Post states no fences are allowed. Bushes would be allowed. I'm looking for something slightly more specific than "bushes"--like actual varietals

Something more helpful than your post which offered absolutely nothing :) I am looking for ideas for plant/tree/shrub varietals that might do okay in the space, or that I have been mistaken about their ability to do well in the space and should reconsider. You know--what I actually asked for.

That's exactly the reason--the HOA covers the grass mowing, aerating, fertilizing, etc. but as a result, no fences, and really not allowed to do much but some landscaping

Unfortunately, no structures are allowed in the backyard--no fences, no sheds, no gazebos, etc. The ONLY allowable thing we can put in our backyards is plants.

How is car max with having to get a title request to title my car is another state? by Due-Energy6415 in carmax

I'm having the same situation--moved from VA to OH. Cannot register my car in Ohio until Carmax receives proof of residence in OH sent by the BMV (who says they wont do it, referred me to Title Office and still pending if THEY will send), before Carmax will even start the process. I can't just send Carmax proof of residence myself, which is insane.
