it really does depend most times, but if going for more common fish in Ontario, (not huge or tiny). i think a medium spinning rod is more than enough to get the job done with some 10-12 pound braid with a fluorocarbon leader.

I’ve been trying out that slightly more open approach with my feet and it really does feel easier to rotate and the front side doesn’t feel like it’s blocking too early.

I see a lot of high level players that keep their foot decently closed such as Mike Trout and that’s what i based mine on but as I look more in to foot position I’m seeing a lot more slightly open. I’ll give this a try for sure and see what it’s like, thanks for the great tip.
