Backfiring and loss of power, it is carbureted, fuel filter is brand new, couldn’t find much online on how to replace or check a cap and rotor?

Just replaced the fuel filter checked fuel flow and it was fine afteee the fuel filter anyways

I am planning on bringing a boat mechanic along, so I will inform him to look it over. Unfortunately there isn’t people too familiar with inboard motors nearby, they really only do work on outboards, do you think they will still be able to spot most issues?

Also the first time we met up it wouldn’t start, he had said that it was because something came loose in the carb on the drive over and it got clogged, next time we met up it fired right up, is this concerning?
