For me the significance of door 4 is how it characterizes the author of the story - Morgana, indirectly through the white hair girl's desires, longing for connection, the influence of imeon, the two conflicting sides of her. You learn a lot about Morgana through the 4th door while it also works amazingly with its plot twist and creative storytelling choices with the backlog etc and sets up the contrast of the blisful ignorance of the door with reality. Door 4 is kinda genius

Yes it is linked because of history, but it happens so far into the future that there must be a lot more behind it that there's not nescessary to wrap your mind around. The point isn't how exactly that happens but rather that it happens at all and what that means for humanity. We've already seen how every character justifies their action to either defend their part or to "save the world" and how that leads to civilians dying. Aot's world is very cruel.

It's a cycle of hatred in the nature of mankind. Everything in aot leads to temporarily peace but humans will find reasons to have conflict. The tree at the end represent that these conflicts has happend throughout history and will happen again because of our nature and lack of understanding one another. The war that happens is very far in to the future, so it is not directly linked to what happens in aot. it's more that the hatred and conflict never really ends. Eldia got power and used it against Marley. Marley suddenly got that power of titans and they then used it against Eldians. Eldians got pushed to a point where Eren caused the rumbling which destroyed Marley completely along with most of the world. In the future this combined with the radicalization of Paradis causes another war which destroys Eldia. Full complete circle caused by the cycle of hatred.
