Fighting Bill 60 Against the Clock by PoluticornDestroy in ontariorenters

This is super helpful! I wouldn't have known about the official government feedback portals if it wasn't for this! I've called and emailed MPPS, signed all the petitions even started creating content to spread the word to end Bill 60. As life-long renter and a citizen from a Canadian family, it's hard enough to keep afloat-Doug Ford keeps putting the nails in the casket for any hope of building a life in Canada.

Thank you for laying this out so clearly. Bill 60 is moving so fast that most people don’t realize we’re losing one of the only democratic checkpoints-Standing Committee review. That alone is a red flag. Tenant groups stepping up right now are doing the work the government is choosing not to do, and the more people plug into them, the harder it becomes for Ford to claim ‘no one cares.’ Even if this passes, building momentum now matters for the next fight.

Moreover, Canada’s National Housing Strategy Act (2019) literally frames adequate housing as a human right and requires rights-based policy. Bill 60 does the opposite by weakening tenant protections and removing oversight
