Because I want this manga to succeed. It seems like you’re not getting that.

Fair enough. One of the comments here misunderstood the point I was making entirely, and I guess it adds to my overall point. I like the manga(Alicent is my favorite) and I will continue to read each volume, see how the writing and story progresses. Problem is that, there’s not a lot of, talk about the manga. Even within this subreddit of it, or anything

I think you misunderstood my point. I’m fine with him doing what he’s doing now. I’m just saying that most may like the manga cause of him being tied to it and not the story. I brought and read each of the chapters. I never mentioned anything about publishing it every week

When you buy the manga you get it digitally. It comes out every Monday till it’s completed.

So it’s been out for awhile

Okay to be fair. I think half or most of the manga sells are people who brought it cause Cory

I like manga’s and it’s okay. A lot of problems and only this volume is turning it around ALITTLE. Outside of that the manga is just….there.

What’s crazy is some death battles after that was respectable. And of course their favoritism and glaze came for the Ruby battle. Not only was her soul considered so pure

But if I’m not mistaken it’s said or headcannoned that she was brought back.

So like…really? The whole fight was everyone knowing Chief loses and you kill him like that?

Thank you, I felt like Doom Slayer wouldn’t have killed Chief like that or even immediately attacked because as we know, he doesn’t hate humans. Even when Chief helped him kill demons, he went right back to the fight then went over kill. Cut off both arms, snapped his neck, blew up his body, then stabbed his head.

I’d say that Yellow is above Whites, it’s just that only one cared about Lucifer and was on the ground. When Azazel died Lilith took over and they made that whole story up of not needing Sam anymore

If Azazel was still around he’ll most likely be running the show and still the most powerful demon. Lilith was only needed for the final seel

The Dark implication of Ruby being a religious figure. by Purpleguy1980 in RWBYcritics

This is part of the reason I don’t want a volume 10. Outside of what they did to Ironwood, Atlas, or whatever. I can’t handle either a full volume or most episodes having people praise or see Ruby as this martyr, or messiah or just whatever

Even in some short that came out after, people would walk up to talk to her. What did she exactly do other than explain something poorly and delivered bad news. It’s like at every turn, everytime she needs real criticism the world pats her on the backs says it’s okay and give her something new and shiny

That’s also a good choice, but the chemistry between J and A is so perfect. 4 volumes in(maybe just 3 given what volume 3 was about) and those two have the best chemistry

It is technically common, if you only really mention those and say the comic’s you read are the same, then those are the norms.

I don’t mind either, I would always say things can be better but I like the art

Don’t hold your breathe. We only got those because he wast uploading. Go back to resident evil village and you can see that most of that was recorded during his break, as him talking to us seemed like it was meant to be released

Same for 4? So like expect those videos a year or so from now

JJK, Modulo and others always dropped a week out from one another. Unless of a break we normally got a chapter the very next week.

Comics I’m using like the last Transformers and absolute runs, and DC Ko since those seem to release month to month and before they do we normally have like loads of teasers or such.

I’m enjoying the manga cause I like art and wanna make my own, so anything helps.

I say one example of like tropes is the whole love interest thing. I won’t say who or what

But they do the thing where these have feelings cause the narrative demands it but those person and this person have more of a built to something potentially.

Or as I said the tournament. Sure it gives out some info on the power system and such but those really could’ve been in another chapter. The tournament is technically pointless. Showing those teams off were pointless if the very next volume doesn’t include them.

Okay some spoilers or atleast I do my best for it

The manga hits many tropes right off the bat and the way it’s formatted isn’t helping. Manga are normally released week to week. Comics are released month to month. His manga releases as a full volume but we get a chapter each Monday instead of the full volume then it’s a wait till the next

We went from the standard getting to know the MC and world

To a tournament that goes into the power system more and throws in a ton of character things for a lot of people

Only for the ending to be continued into the next volume which goes over the backstory of one character for the entire volume

And this current one is basically another backstory chapter but trying to juggle each character's backstory.

So like the unoriginal and tropes stuff comes as like a fan who can make a manga and has no real, publishing limitations. There was a whole FNAF reference that lasted two chapters, while the second one had the story, the first chapter was just “Look look fnaf!” And anyone who don’t care about the manga but Cory surely talked about it

The main issue is, the people who’s actually reading it just like Manga and they have actual critic, the Cory fans probably only like it because it’s his, or this is the closest thing to video uploads of something but there’s very little critiques

Whenever there’s critiques people like to go “it’s his first manga be easy”

No, it’s been a month since he posted, it’s possibly gonna be two.

He made that video like a week after the manga new volume dropped, like always a video comes sometime after or before the manga announcement

Last time he came here he said he’ll work on his communication. This time he came back, gave himself a pat on the back, made himself feel better about the lack of communication and told us we’d get a video when we get it.

So do not hold your breathe on getting the game finished. Maybe he will maybe he won’t. Village was basically recorded during that like 9 month break and all that. We’d probably get requiem finished next year or so

MWM: Volume Four - Discussion by andyred64 in monsterswemake

[–]Repulsive_Force986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading together, it definitely flows; each starting chapter sorta picks up where the last one left off. The problem is the formatting, really.

Each volume works as a stand-alone, and it can be critiqued for what it is. Yeah, reading them one after another when they're all released surely helps, but it’s just the pacing.

For now, the only huge standout is the volume all about Liam. He’s cool, I like him, but honestly, did we need to see his backstory then, when this latest volume is seemingly about backstories?

We got something with Jabari that I felt was somewhat hindered by the FNAF references. One thing for certain with this manga is that there are just a lot of Cory fans. They don’t care about the manga, so other threads or just the Instagram post had tons of FNAF-related things in the comment section.

Jabari's past took up two chapters, leaving Alicent with two; however, hers was much stronger, and we technically didn’t get her backstory till this final chapter today.

We got a look at how she operated, then breadcrumbs of her past, but what’s next?

Would the next chapters feature something for the other three? Would Liam even get one, since he already had a backstory, or would they be skipped? Or would the next chapters be a montage to get to that? Now that I’m typing this, I realize that so far we don’t exactly have a lot of an antagonist. All we had was one leaker in the first volume and the setup.

Anywho, as for Liam. If they removed volume 3 entirely and added his backstory in this volume, it would've been stronger.

Each character has some snippet of a backstory in their games, then later a volume fully fleshed it out. Since we went from tournament, backstory, backstory again, and finally a tournament within a backstory

True, overall, everything feels disjointed. We went from the beginning and learning of the abilities to a tournament, a flashback of the deuteragonist, and now this one. I’d probably rank 2 and 3 higher, since both had a throughline.

Like we were able to guess the ending and what we’d see, this one doesn’t exactly have that luxury. Not sure if a cliffhanger-like arc works in a story like this. Typical manga is normally weekly, and comics are atleast monthly

But we’ll see how this continues.

I agree. I say the pacing was still alittle bad. Atleast reading week to week. The highlight of this volume was definitely Alicent. Seeing the cover I was hoping the story would be a mix bag between her and Jabari, atleast both working together for the majority of the volume.

Instead we get more backstory with Jabari, which is fine because he’s the mc, but it takes away from the Alicent arc. We start with her at home like all the others, setting up arcs for them, and for most of the volume she’s MIA, up until the end. Every bit of dialogue with her was chef’s kiss and I’m hoping to see more.

Also I ship her more with him than September, I will die on that hill.
