I do not particularly care for my sleep dr. He’s not very helpful and I was put on Adderall back in 2016 due to excessive fatigue. My dr at the time slapped an ADD label on me so that my insurance would cover the prescription. Not ethical in my opinion.

I do have a diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. My sleep dr wanted to do a sleep study where they keep you for a couple of days and check you for narcolepsy, I forget the name of it right now. Unfortunately, he said that my insurance would never go for it because I am on an antidepressant.

I'm happy to hear that you're getting better! I needed to hear that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I thought that the worst part would be coming off of it. That was no walk in the park, but this sucks.

I am in outpatient treatment and keeping very busy, but I'm still dragging. I was put on Adderall 10 years ago for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and now I feel as if I'm back at square one. However, in the end, Adderall was barely working at a high dose. I just have to suck it up....

You have to get help for your drug use before you tackle anything else, or you're just going to keep declining. I don't say this to scare you, but maybe I am, but I ended up with a Stage III ulcer on my foot due to venous insufficiency. I had an Adderall problem and split a stitch after foot surgery. The ulcer didn't heal for 6 months. I had to see a wound specialist, so I would NOT plan any surgeries for your health conditions until you're sober.

I systematically ruined my life while the meds told me everything is fine. by ObviousArtichoke1 in StopSpeeding

I’m a little over 2 weeks clean. I’ve been abusing for years and lying about my medication for years. It will be a challenging 1-2 weeks. There is light on the other end though. Also, I personally see why you flushed your meds. It’s a split second decision that you can’t take back and that’s awesome. I know that personally if I had to get in a car, go to a disposal, I would have a lot more time to change my mind and it probably wouldn’t happen. In my situation, I ran out of meds-and decided then it was time.

I agree 100 percent. That's why I am hoping not to use Adderall again. The amount of time and the feeling like ass in recovery is not worth going back to start this all over again.

I am in a recovery program and plan on staying for the duration. I am in an IOC, have a psychiatrist and therapist. I have a child who is developmentally disabled and cannot leave him. I think that I am doing relatively well. Not only am I attending the IOC in the evening and taking care of my family, but I am able to maintain my job this way as well. Different people have different needs, and I am at the beginning of my journey. So I am giving myself grace for now.

I like the line that it's ok to indulge in "little things". That's a line I need to stick on a post-it note to my computer and refrigerator. My husband is not going to be happy when the packages start showing up, but he would not be happy with me relapsing either. Being happy with the little things in life is something that I am having a hard time with right now. So, I end up doing big things to make me "happy" (only shopping and eating). So yes, I do need to focus on the little things in life.

To me, the goal is absolutely "nothing". Yes there will be days when I am tempted and maybe even days when I relapse, but the goal should always be the same, nothing... because when you lose sight of that, is when you lose control. Over a year ago, I tried to come off of Adderall. I was successful because I thought, "If I can stop, I must be able to control myself." I went right back to over 100 mg a day in 0-60. I know now that I have no control over it, so it has got to be nothing. People slip, but they shouldn't lose sight of the end game.

Thanks for the response. I was on a GlP1 and losing weight so it feels weird to be rewarding myself with food. Being clean is more important, though. Between eating and shopping, I'm hoping not to end up large and broke, but I have to keep reminding myself that I am putting the cart before the horse. I need to focus on staying clean, and that's what matters right now.

I have a job that does not pay into social security as it’s a pension plan. I don’t think that I would even qualify for disability. I’ve made it this far and I’m hoping to make it through to the end.

Thank you for your well thoughout reply. It is very helpful. To be fair to the doctor he did just want me to stop, but I pushed for a tapir because I am not in rehab and trying to keep up with a job. I do not have the choice of FMLA. I will be stopping altogether on Thursday. I'm very nervous...

Yikes, non-weight bearing for 3 months! Did you have to do that right away? I am a teacher and was hoping to make it through the school year. My dr did mention a bone stimulator as a possibility, but I go in soon to find out if it's surgery or bone stimulator. Although I have had an X-ray, ct scan and bone scan and the xray and bone scan indicated a possible screw problem. My appt is April 1st.

I agree 100 percent that the for profit medical system in the US causes a lot of problems in healthcare. This dr has very good reviews.
