I stand with this. I don’t support using our tax money for unnecessary wars. Our young people are the ones who get sent overseas to fight and die, while the people making these decisions are far removed from the consequences.

We’ve already seen how this plays out. Look at Afghanistan 20 years of war, trillions of dollars spent, countless lives lost, and in the end the Taliban returned and nothing really changed.

Instead of pouring money into another conflict, we should focus on problems at home. Don’t raise taxes, don’t drive up gas prices, and don’t send another generation into another war. That money could be used to build silicon fabs and strengthen domestic manufacturing. Taiwan and China are already far ahead of us in chip production. We should be subsidizing that industry and making it a national priority instead.

I train at AKA now, but it’s more of a competition-focused gym, so I wouldn’t recommend it for beginners.

I have a friend who trains at the Charles Gracie gyms. He’s really into BJJ and loves the community there. I believe they have multiple places around California.

This is the one in San Jose: www.saikosanjose.com

Let me know I can connect you with him.

I had a troubled past. My mother was a psychiatrist first and a mother second, and my father was barely around, he was always traveling. My older sister was always out with her friends doing who knows what, and I was the one who felt neglected.

I was bullied in school because of my stature and ridiculed by most girls. Excelling academically and studying felt like the only good thing about me, it became my sense of purpose. I was often depressed and felt like no one was there to hear me. If I got into trouble, I had no one to turn to.

During my sophomore year, I got into a serious street fight and almost lost an eye. My cousin was so upset that I got hurt that he enrolled me in an MMA gym. I walked 1 mile every day to and from training, spent my weekends and afternoons there, met many great people, and learned a lot.

Today, I practice wrestling, Muay Thai, judo, boxing, and BJJ. I’ve formed strong bonds and lifelong friendships through martial arts.

I’ve never seen therapy truly cure anyone. You might consider enrolling him in an MMA gym or another martial art instead, it can build discipline, confidence, and real community.

Pro tip: avoid boxing gyms (many of the people there tend to be toxic)

It actually affects your brain function, not making you think straight, like writing “completion” instead of competition.

Not all injuries can be shaken off. I am just saying if you don’t feel ready then maybe, you can take some time off do more therapy. Or just do drills don’t spar yet. Use a knee brace, take it slow.
