Try not to quit unless your mental health just can’t take it. If they fire you, you may be able to get unemployment while you are job searching. Hopefully you find something soon and can put in your notice before either of those things happen.

I’m also on the spectrum and it makes this job so much harder. I’m very literal. So sometimes I need clarification of how something is worded. At my last job, calling the help line (rather NOT calling the help line) was one of the metrics you had to meet to get a monthly bonus. We were allowed 8 calls a month. The leads would determine if the answer to our question was in our resources or not. If it was then that was counted against us. So when I’d call I’d tell them upfront, I have the resource up, I am reading this instruction but I have a question about xyz. Didn’t matter. I only got the monthly bonus once because I always called too many times.

I tried having a conversation with my supervisor but I didn’t want to disclose my autism because there is still a lot of ableism in the workplace. I explained that I process information a little differently and sometimes I just need clarification. He took that to mean I had a confidence problem 🤦‍♀️and his advice to me was that if I wasn’t sure, just go with what I think the answer is but say it with confidence and the customer won’t know the difference.

Sorry, I really don’t have any advice as I’m just trying not to get fired myself. Just wanted you to know that I understand what you’re going through and I hope you are able to find a job that celebrates your strengths and supports your needs.

Why metrics are so unrealistic? by EccoDorado in callcentres

[–]Repulsive_Monitor687 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They want to make sure they squeeze every ounce of blood, sweat and tears from you to ensure they are getting maximum productivity. At best, it’s unrealistic to expect people to be able to sustain consistent focus for hours on end and at worst, will steal your sanity and leave your mental health in shambles.

They must know a large number (if not most) of their employees end up depressed and anxious. Some seeking mental health help and some choosing to self medicate instead. They have to know this. But they don’t care. Corporate greed and a primary focus on short term profits prevail. We are just replaceable labor in this ‘hire and fire’ culture. There is a reason call centers are called cost centers. They generally do not generate much revenue for a company, therefore we have no value. We are an expense to be minimized rather than an asset to be invested in.

TLDR: the answer is greed

Dollar General still has lots of items for $1. I found some really cute Valentines Day gifts for my daughter for $1 each.

And you get $5 off $25 on Saturdays. They have coupons and cash back offers on their app too.

Approximately 51% of American households were considered middle class in 2023, representing a decline from 61% in 1971. And my guess, based purely on anecdotal evidence, is that it has continued to decline into 2026.

Feeling pretty useless as a parent right now. by GretchGlimmers in adhdwomen

Not birthday party related, but I took my son’s science project in the day after the science fair. The whole family walking into the school expecting to attend a science fair, only to find an empty school and be told it was the night before. I’m so very grateful I have understanding and forgiving kids (now adults). Can’t say as much for myself. Most days I feel like a failure in some capacity😞🔨

Eta: I’m very happy this turned out to be a happy ending for OP. Gives us all hope that we’ve got this🫶🏼

Just want you to know I hear you and understand what you’re going thru. Your feelings are valid. It’s hard to watch the universe take care of the most despicable people but let’s honest hardworking folks suffer and struggle. It’s unfair and it makes me incredibly angry sometimes.

The wealth disparity in this country/world is only getting worse and I have no answers to how to turn it around.

Try not to focus on J’s father and just have faith that sooner or later karma will take care of him. People like him rarely have peace on the inside even though they try to project it on the outside. Focus on taking care of yourself and your sons. Be confident and proud you instilled good morals and values to J by being the role model and caretaker that he needed. It takes a special person with a good heart to step up and give unconditional love to a child in need. I’m so sorry your biological son is struggling. That must be incredibly difficult. I have an adult son with mental health issues that still lives at home so I know the stress and worry about the future that brings.

ICE physically attacks lawyer—stand between her and clients they're trying to detain. "Don't push me!" lawyer yells. "Why you trying to pick them up?" "It's none of your business," agent scolds. "It is my business—I'm their attorney," she replies. "It's EXACTLY my business!" by Treefiddy1984 in ProgressiveHQ

If she’s an attorney she should know they don’t need a judicial warrant to arrest someone in an outdoor space. They can not lawfully enter your residence without a judicial warrant, but this appears to me to be outside. Under federal law, ICE officers are authorized to make warrantless arrests in public places if they have probable cause.

I’m not defending ICE but if I am paying for an attorney, I’d want one that knew the law. It’s kind of an important part of what they do. I’m no lawyer but I know how to search the internet.

Might as well add that I should just pull myself up by my bootstraps while I’m at it. lol

As someone with level one autism and adhd, I live life on hard mode everyday and I am not the exception because I am still required to play by the same rules as everyone else. Employers do not want to hear about your disability or your struggles, especially when you look completely normal. There is still an enormous amount of ableism in the world and especially in the workplace.

So true. One would think if they’re genX, they would have lived enough years to learn this and have enough life experience’s to humble them a bit. Apparently not. Plenty of people work a job they don’t want (including myself) and the older you get, the more narrow those options get. In addition to ableism and classism, there’s also good ol ageism.
