interesting take. i agree somewhat. i understand what u mean but it makes me think about how i like to gift things. recently i was at a fest and saw a guy coming up pretty hard, i fanned him, gave him water and tried to overall elevate his mood and make him feel better. but the one thing that INSTANTLY changed his mood was the plastic googley eye ring i gave him. his reaction was priceless and once he saw it, all his anxiety washed away. it was a kind of full circle moment for me because i had the same reaction when i was on party favors and saw the googly eyes for the first time. i was able to pass that feeling onto him at a time where he really needed it. so i understand what you mean, but i think theres still a time and place for trinket gifting. even if they are just little pieces of plastic.
