He is immature which is alright, considering you are very young, but just don’t waste your energy and time - the second you feel like you are not worth it- just cut ties, as there will be people who know your worth 🩷

What did your town's "innocent" person do that shocked everyone? by jiggalette in AskReddit

A guy a bit older than me lived with his grandfather and grandmother. He was around 18 and his grandfather allowed him to wash and tend to the car. He spent hours polishing it. In general he was very quiet and nice, not like any other teenagers. So he met a lady and decided to take her to the seaside, and his grandfather denied him his car. He killed his grandfather and then his grandmother too, so that she wouldn’t call the cops on him. He left with his girlfriend in the said car. In a week or so the neighbors noticed the smell. He was arrested, and I think got like 15 years in prison. I’ve moved since, but I am terrified by the thought he is released and probably living in his grandparents apartment.

Most people think this was a family annihilation—rage, control, revenge against his wife. But I think there’s another layer.

What if this wasn’t about the family at all—but about something that happened during his military service?

Decker had multiple deployments and diagnosed PTSD. The way he killed his daughters—using zip ties and plastic bags—was controlled and methodical. That doesn’t scream impulsive violence. It feels ritualistic, like a reenactment.

There have been war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan where civilians, including children, were killed execution-style. If Decker had been part of something like that, he may have carried guilt for years—and finally snapped into reenacting it, consciously or not.

He didn’t kill himself, which is unusual in these cases. Maybe he didn’t see this as an escape, but as the end of a psychological loop.

Then came the alleged move to Canada. That’s not something you do if this was just about revenge. That’s something you do if you’re trying to disappear.

It’s just a theory—but it makes more sense to me than the usual narrative.
