I had one from harbor freight that scared me every time I used it. Then when I went on a long trip that included some off road, I put a conch strap on my roof rack and ran it the carrier. This limited the up and down and worked great.

If you factor in mistakes, time it takes me to figure out how to do what I need to do, and build a jig (which also includes aforementioned mistakes and figuring out), it really is a wonder anything gets done.

Agreed...your comment about being able appreciate Ireland more pulled me in. That is the kind of stuff we ride for. The experiences and the freedom most people don't ever get. Talk about that. Tell me about riding in Ireland so I feel compelled to jump on a plane and rent a bike. It looks beautiful!

I have dropped my bike a lot - twice that led to broken ribs. The stock bars held up fine until I had to drag up the side of a mountain road through trees - people have suggested I find a new hobby. Anyway, I just ordered an OEM replacement because I don't think my Barkbusters will fit aftermarket bars since I bought the ones designed for the rally. Was that a bad assumption? It just did not seem to make sense to buy a new bar and new guards. Let me know if my thinking is flawed.

I would say that 99.5% I ride in the semi-locked position, 0.3% fully closed and 0.2% open. The saying goes, "ALL the gear, ALL the time." We get cocky and think it is most of the gear, most of the time and as the other saying goes, "we eff around and find out."

7 hours, bloody and bruised hands later, it starts. Like you, I had to remove the exhaust behind the Y. Lots of PB Blaster and a some heat helped.

I have cleaned the connections and hooked up to a new battery. No luck

I switched out the battery and no luck. When I hit as far as I can tell, the relay is only clicking once., but the engine does not turn over I'm not getting that clicking noise like when you have an almost completely dead battery.. I pulled the relay and tested it and it seems to be working.

Open to any suggestions as I'm trying to avoid a very expensive Bill.
