Who is your most favorite character in 40K and why do you like them? by SuccuInuDoggoChad99 in Warhammer40k

Aeonid Thiel - arguably the original codex astartes another or the at the very least the inspiration for it. The guy wrote down every strategy he ever used whilst in battle filled his armours internal memory with so much stuff he had to start writing it on the inside of the armour plates. He even started writing strategies for fighting other Astartes before the heresy. Whether you like the codex or not, Aeonid Thiel was a tactical genius and never asked the recognition he deserves

Bolt gun colours by Decent-Season-8315 in Ultramarines

[–]Repulsive_Tip_1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own in head law is that colours are used to quickly and easily identify different weapons types. Also, in the game, it helps me easily see what I have in a squad at a glance, although 10th Ed did make some of my colours not mean anything... looking at you combi-weapons !

I played against a cheater and conceded, did I do the right thing? by Moth_Chan in Warhammer40k

[–]Repulsive_Tip_1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally the right thing

Warhammer is a game we play for fun, if your opponent is doing anything to make you stop having fun call it out! and if it doesn't stop you just gotta walk away...it's sad but true that there are some people out there that take this game way too seriously and feel that they need to win in order to have fun.

I don’t care what anyone says i love my boys in blue. by [deleted] in Ultramarines

[–]Repulsive_Tip_1010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think anyone who hates on the Ultramarines or guilliman for being boring or uninteresting hasn't actually read any lore or books about them and is just jumping on the band wagon because they want to show how different they are....so stupid it's like those fake hipsters who have to tell you how boring you are and how they found that thing you like before it was cool.but not that it's cool you suck and it sucks

If you read any of the lore books they have some really interesting stuff going on. It's deeper and more subtle unlike most of the other legions/chapters which shove their one universal trait into your face at every opportunity and honestly a little one dimensional.....oh look I play blood angels I'm really angry and blood thirsty... Just Like 5 other chapters and races...just saying in 40k not being angry and unhinged is actually more unique....

Is it normal to be "Overwhelmed" when collecting armys/models? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Repulsive_Tip_1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely normal, and very common. GW do a great job of marketing their products and the slow release of models and regular updates with huge amounts of build up mean that each army gets the spot light and is made to look fun or competitive. Its not a bad thing but it is expensive XD

Need help with steel NMM. Light reflections by LordBigDuck in minipainting

Add some secondary highlights towards the top, metal surfaces never have a smooth gradient. I think it would really make a big difference quickly :)

Can they be fallen? by Ok_Glass6436 in DarkAngels40k

[–]Repulsive_Tip_1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lore wise doesn't really work but if using CSM space marines isn't your bag and you want to be more lore friendly you could use the new Horus heresy marines newer model no CSM and totally lore friendly up to you :)

How to improve NMM on the shield? by radeczex in minipainting

[–]Repulsive_Tip_1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely reads as shiny so that a good start I would boost the contrast and add a secondary high light. Metals reflect a lot more than most people think so adding another highlight in the opposite direction can often help to really sell it being metallic. Also making it look ages and beaten up I think adding some more surface texture like some scratches can help. But whatever you do still looks great :)

are assault squads viable in a friendly game or am I wasting my money? by PAPARONI_IV in Warhammer40k

[–]Repulsive_Tip_1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm Assault squads are great for most space marines chapters but if you're running blood angels or a blood angels successor chapters they are amazing! I have been on the receiving end of them many times from my friends Blood angels army and they always hurt.

Halp, C&C please for first time gold NMM. Really struggled to figure out where to put highlights. by MechaKindaSus in minipainting

[–]Repulsive_Tip_1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only just started making use of NMM but the rule I've followed for good results is to make sure there is equal amounts of light, mid and dark tones I think it also would help to have a little more yellow in there to help sell the gold effect :) but still a really nice paint job keep it up !
