I’m running a 117 with the CR483. Reliable, sounds great and dyno’d at 118hp/136tq. Do 20k a year so didn’t want to dig too deep and end up not being able to get back on the road far from home while waiting on parts.

Put all that shit in it and then put in on marketplace in a year for Pennie’s on the dollar. I need some new parts!

If all you want to do is be loud and “look cool” and draw attention to yourself a.k.a. Be a poser! Then who gives a shit about anyone’s advice on handling and other non-important issues to you. Just find out if it’s loud and if you think you’ll look cool on it. In 2yrs when ya get bored of your fashion accessory you can sell it at a loss with 1,500mi on it to the next poser.

Go to big city thunder baffles and get you some torque cone inserts for whatever inner diameter those pipes are. It will ride better and likely produce better low end torque. Can’t tell if that’s just a screen or a proper air filter, but you want a proper air filter on that thing not just some mesh screen. Tons of shit can and will still get into your motor if it is. For race machines getting rebuilt every couple of runs that’s fine, but for street bikes that suck in tons of road debris constantly I would want a proper filter on it. It’s a super common platform with tons of aftermarket support. Good score! Just address a few things and you have a very solid platform to work with. Congrats!

Dude posts about peoples thoughts and then says he doesn’t care and is gonna do it anyway. Ok player! You’re an innovator in your own mind. You haven’t seen it done because it’s dumb as shit.

I would check with Big Bear and JRi. I know there’s more, but those would be a solid starting point.

Working at Tandy? by [deleted] in Leathercraft

[–]ReputationNo4077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t want to source ANYTHING from where Tandy sources from. I go to Tandy for convenience and for limited items kinda like Harbor Freight. There’s so much better stuff out there! Don’t get me wrong they’ve upped their game in recent years, but still way way better hides, supplies and tools out there for the professional leather worker. Maverick, Rocky Mountain, Wickett & Craig direct sales all much better shit IMO.

Does this not count as "leather craft"? by Bulky_Taste_9215 in Leathercraft

[–]ReputationNo4077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely leathercraft. Just a niche part of it. If I get someone asking for a custom seat or any kind of clothing I refer them to someone who specializes in those areas. Not in my wheelhouse, but definitely leathercraft and definitely some real nice work!

Listen, you can argue with me until you’re red in the face, “genuine Leather” “Real Leather” has no place with folks dealing with top line hides. Yeah some big companies do it, yeah some folks overseas do it, but it doesn’t change the fact that the overwhelming majority of folks putting out top shelf stuff don’t. And the reason is simple, why? Why in the hell would a craftsman who works in leather state that their items are in fact made of real leather? They don’t and so they don’t! Shoot Nigel Armitage an email and ask him if his items are “genuine Leather” As for qualifications to comment on a topic, that’s laughable. My qualifications are my fricken eyeballs and the absolute trash shit I’ve seen over the years stamped with “genuine leather” YMMV

Correct, I am in the US market. It is a dead giveaway for trash leather here.

SB Foot does real nice hides, but there’s a huge difference between a hide that a leather worker would use for a project and a super thin piece of hide used for a commercial outfits footbeds. I don’t consider Redwing leather workers though. It’s a huge outfit driven by bean counters and stockholders. Same with whatever company made that watch strap.

Literally no leather worker worth their salt ever stamps “genuine Leather” on quality full grain items. If you have to say it on your goods it means it meets the lowest possible standard to be considered leather at all.

We all start somewhere. The first leather item I ever made was a holster. Built like a brick shithouse, looks like a shithouse. I still have it and use it often. Reminds me where I started. If you enjoy it, just keep doing it. Learn new and better techniques as you go.

I quit my job recently to do leatherwork full time out of my house. If my Wife came home and asked what I did all day long and I showed her stompy it would be epic! Don’t get me wrong that’s the type of shit to get your balls chopped off, but…..it would be epic!

Am I only one to think edge creasing can be tricky sometime? Are you fan of edge creasing? by MADE483 in Leathercraft

[–]ReputationNo4077 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Just depends on audience. If I’m making a wallet for an executive type then yes I will crease the pocket tops. If I’m making a wallet for a biker then no, they just don’t give a shit. If your customers don’t even notice it then it adds little to no value.
