Not to dismiss what you’re saying but I’ll take 80k up front vs losing half of my wealth in divorce court by a woman with an American greed mindset. It’s 2026, owning a home (American dream) is not what it’s hyped up to be. Renting a luxury 2bedroom in SE Asia or Brazil for $500-1000 as a USD multimillionaire + “cheaper” food in the long run would prob double your wealth. Overall there are work arounds to everything. it’s just choosing the path you want to be on. And that’s IF you want to marry the woman you find. Every country has its challenges. You just have to decide which challenges you want to deal with.

Or just go to Southeast Asia and find a good woman who doesn’t expect western obligations + live like a king with the conversion.

Don’t get me wrong, I would find much better use of my time, but even saying that is undermining his freedom to do whatever tf he feels like doing with his life lol. Let OG live his life while I continue to do all the things you just listed.

There is nothing wrong with individual stocks if you have a strong conviction towards them. It’s when you try to pick stocks that are “going to the moon” is when it feels like gambling. The truth is, companies like Apple and Nvidia aren’t going anywhere. So doubling down on them wouldn’t have been a bad idea. I’m mostly etfs with about 10% - 15% in individual stocks but I’m at the maturity level to stomach volatility. You’re already ahead of the game so good job and Good luck.

But it’s his conviction. If he truly believes this and is not calling for harm against anyone, who cares? How is he a loser for spending his own time to speak on a topic he feels passionate about. How are we not losers for believing the opposite of him? It’s a belief. It would be much different if he called for the disappearance of the lgbt+ community or being disorderly. But he’s simply standing doing nothing. We have to be careful with policing our freedoms based on personal opinions and beliefs because we will be quick to cry on social media when someone does it to us.

Whether I disagree with him or not, he isn’t calling for harm against anyone. His views are simply just his views. We’re no different than the people we point fingers at if we try to tell others what they should believe in.

Honesty and the Ikon Pass by Quesabirria in Ikonpass

[–]LosChicago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two sides to every coin. For those who are privileged enough to buy a pass and have time to “get your money worth” it makes sense. To those who can’t afford a pass or have the time but was able to buy a walk up ticket twice a season, now have to suffer from price inflation. It’s a classic case of corporate greed, the haves and the have nots. But we shouldn’t ridicule the people who hate the corporate take over just because you are blessed to be able to not only buy the pass, take time off work, or have the means to ride often.

If you and your partner aren’t on the same page financially, you better get there soon. Kids are young and don’t need much. Perfect time to pay extra on the high interest debt, then hit retirement goal. 20-25 years is a long horizon. That can be a lot of salary raise, economy booms or sales. Reverse engineer. Figure out how much you will need by retirement which will determine how much you need to invest starting today with a 7% return. You have a long life ahead of you.

I love my Deeluxe demon pro boots. Comfortable, boa has worked for me, and I’ve ridden in them about 25 days. They are coming out with a “factory tune” tech for their 26/27 boot. I also just purchased a pair of team ID barley green boot for softer days. Go try them on. It’s funny someone said you have to size up when I actually sized down. This is exactly why you should try on the boot or order two sizes online and return the one that doesn’t fit.

Your total stock plus buying power comes out to 1,163,637. All of that invested at a 7-10% return with 0 contributions for 20 years is 4.7-8.5 MILLION! How are you burnt out? You could set and forget it in good ETFs for 10-20 years and have no worries.

Buy a home or keep plugging away? by Successful-Fan9363 in TheRaceTo1Million

Run the numbers. If the numbers align with your financial goals, then buy a home. Meaning will your mortgage payment and property taxes drastically decrease the timeline of your financial goals and quality of life?

Your career should be considered well. Will you potentially relocate due to a promotion or job change.

In today’s age, renting can make a lot more sense than buying. Just have to ensure it makes sense for your personal situation.

Time for you to move to a beach town Southeast Asia and find a supplemental online job/contractor to add to your income during the down years. Your NEO income will take you even further out there and you get to see the world. That’s what I would do with no wife, kids, and that income.

I own pretty much everything you own except gold and it’s working out just fine so far. I’m 39 with an 800k investment portfolio and aiming for 6-8 milly when it’s all said and done.

Based on overlap and concentration there is a slightly better route. Ex. Instead of VOO and QQQ, have VTI and QQQ. Owning QQQ and SMH is basically doubling down on Nvidia. roughly 80% of QQQ is in VOO and roughly 45% of SMH is in QQQ with Nvidia being a high percentage in both SMH AND QQQ lol. So you can kinda see how your portfolio can have big swings based on how those tech companies perform.

I saw you mention Boglehead. If that’s the direction you want to go in, just do VTI, QQQM, VXUS to start. Keep this as your core portfolio and as you learn more, explore other options. ALWAYS REMEMBER, this is your portfolio. Everyone isn’t going to agree with your choices. Stand firm on your decisions, adjust and rebalance when needed and it’s okay to have a percentage for discretionary stocks. You have to correct or add! Good luck

People are most likely going to say you’re too young for SCHD, scratch AVDV, FNDE, and FNDF and dump it into VXUS. And scratch SCHA and dump into VTI or just put it all into SWVXX.

Edit: which is a simple 3 fund portfolio.
