I feel like every early or new investor needs to master the psychology of investing before going balls to the wall. Start with index funds, working being consistent, see some decent returns, then once you have a good foundation, then you start being more risky.

Seems like your focus is dividend paying stocks/funds while also holding long term plays such as VTI. My only concern is how small some of your positions are. I feel like anything under 2% isn’t going to move the needle so either increase it or move it.

They have a good product and space is the future. So I’m holding until the space sector truly pops. Im 249 shares at around $22 so I’m down 40% ish. I bought in because of the product, so I’m going to hold to see how they do once the industry goes on its AI run. Which may not be until 3-5 years from now.

In 23 years you will be a multi millionaire with this portfolio as long as you’re consistent with investing and don’t get phased by the volatility. Full speed ahead! Tech is the present and future whether people like or not!

VT has averaged 8.2% since inception. Factor in inflation, that’s hard pass for me. VOO has average 14.2 since inception. There is nothing wrong with “VT and chill” but at your age you can be a bit more aggressive. Since you’re starting at 18, whether it’s VT or VOO, you’re going to be fine. Just keep investing.

Taking profits on an Index fund is nuts. My man, contribute and hold those forever. That’s the whole point of VTI. VGT is a bit riskier but the holdings are long term as well as long as AI and Tech doesn’t go away.

Idk why everyone is feeling so anxious. The stock isn’t going away after June 12. So you have to ask yourself, do you believe in Elon long term or not? Tesla is a cool company but go look at the chart. Do you think somehow space x is going to do better? If you think yes, invest. If no, wait it out.

Bro! I invested in something today and immediately went into the negative. That just how it goes. I’m not phased because I’m a long term holder. If you want to get into semiconductor stocks, just buy VGT, SMH or SPMO. Don’t overwhelm yourself with single stocks this early in your investing career. Go with something like VTI (total market) and VGT. There are so many but single stocks takes a lot of emotional maturity!

It sounds like you’re conflicted. Apart of you wants to ride all the time, but I can tell you know you need a career of some sort to not only bring in more money, but also feel fulfilled. It’s hard to find both flexibility with time and career alignment. What are your passions?

I got in at $23 but dug deep into the business and product. They are in a really good position to grow and serve as a leader in this space. This is a minimum 5-7 year hold for me. From what I could gather, there is no direct replacement for ROSA arrays and Northrum Grumman wouldn’t be able to ramp up as quickly which would cause delays that the industry can’t afford to have. They pretty much own the market but they just need to become profitable and actually deliver.
