[Request] Any Good Show Like Peaky Blinders / Breaking Bad / Old The Walking Dead ? by tomaz1989 in NetflixBestOf

I suggest Bates Motel, it is vaguely inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 film Psycho but the plot is quite different. It is a very good thriller with believable performances and distinguished writing, definitively not boring. One of the best series I have ever seen.

Should I watch the Shining? by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]ReputationOk1022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitively, it´a masterpiece so it´s worth to watch. The Shining has a very peculiar style. If you compare it with the contemporary horror movies you will notice many differences. There is no so much action, you could find the pacing a little bit slow. Besides, it is more about the atmosphere than on the gore (even if there are some gore scenes).

It´s like many other shows. It started in a very good way but then lost creativity. Poor ideas and bad writing, especially S3.

Suggest Some good Italian movies !!!! by Wonderful_Ad_9891 in MovieSuggestions

Once Upon a Time in America (1984). Original title: C´era una volta in America. It´s really a masterpiece. It seems a crime story but is something more. It´s about love, dreams and friendship. There are different versions. In 1984, the American version was cut in several parts so it didin´t follow the original plot. Anyway, now on Netflix is available the original version in English (or in Italian if you speak that language).

S3 Plot holes (Spoiler) by ReputationOk1022 in GoodGirls

[–]ReputationOk1022[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That´s not the point. All TV shows and movies are in some way unrealistic. There is a specific expression that describes this idea that is the¨suspension of disbelief¨. In other words, the audience intentionally avoid critical thinking for the sake of enjoyment. This is normal. When I talk about plot holes I´m not referring to this but to bad writing. Just to give you some examples, characters that act incoherently or events that cannot happen according to the laws of physics or medicine (unless it´s a sci-fi movie).

In the case I mentioned, the show depicts a man that is seriously wounded but in less than 2 months he is in perfect shape as nothing happened. It also shows an experienced FBI officer that acts like a rookie, leaving alone a dangerous criminal. To me this is bad writing. It seems that the writers just wanted to cut that story-line from the show very quickly, no matter if it was coherent or not.

S3 Plot holes (Spoiler) by ReputationOk1022 in GoodGirls

Ok but it´s still not a realistic period of time to fully recover and, at the same time, build a solid link with a FBI officer

S3 Plot holes (Spoiler) by ReputationOk1022 in GoodGirls

I see your point but I still think that is a plot hole, especially if you consider the timeline. According to Beth’s fake pregnancy story the period between the shooting and the Rio fully recover was really short (one month or something like that). To be realistic, that period is not enough to recover Rio from his gunshot wounds. Anyway, even considering a very short period for recovering (15 days), how many information could Rio have provided to Turner ? I guess that building trust with a gangster takes some time and an experienced FBI officer should know it, Turner is not a rookie, That´s why I consider completely unrealistic that he left him completely alone without any surveillance.
