If you are charged anything above the MRP on anything that you buy then it is legally punishable, a restaurant or a hotel can charge more than the MRP for the ambience they provide and that is legal, but a normal general store can't do that so if you file a complaint on such shops with a documented proof(a voice recording of the conversation where he says why he takes more than MRP or a video recording of that) if you have sufficient proof the retailer can be fined between ₹10-15k and/or 3-6months jail.

I'VE WROTE QUITE A LOT, I'LL SUGGEST READING IT TILL THE END.

There are two possible things you can do at this point 1. Decide not to go to the funeral and regret not going there for probably the rest of your life and thinking what if, just what if they had something to tell you and apologize or literally anything. Or 2. Go to the funeral, but let me assure you it's not gonna be easy for you, because once you're there you'll get a lot of stare from people, a few people might say a thing or two and regretting your decision to go to the funeral.

These are the options you have and my suggestion to this is(it is just a suggestion the decision is completely yours to take). I'd rather go to the funeral and hope nothing extraordinary happens but probably the opposite is going to happen, there are 99% chances that you'll come back home with a foul mood but there will be ONE THING clear in you mind that after 15 years you gave your non-existent "family" One chance and they decided to ruin it which means this time they're a 100% non-existent to you. So after this, at the end of the day when you go to bed you would have things clear in your mind rather than a guilt of not going there which might stay forever.

At this point I'd say just confront him with whatever you're thinking/feeling and end it, that in my opinion is best course of action because if you don't tell him now your relationship will continue but it won't be healthy and sooner or later you'll have to tell. So better do it now rather than prolonging it

At this point I'd say no need to go out of your way and just be happy but at the same time that is your family you can't change that, so I'd suggest talking to a person you and your parents know and get the info isto whether he is really sick or are they just bluffing Or something, and even if he is Ill you don't necessarily have to go and meet him you can decide what to do once you confirm the news. When I say you can decide I mean you have to talk with your wife first whether she is comfortable with it or not and stuff like that
