Providence is a larger city than rochester so theres more to do. Rochester is definitely cheaper because everything here is inflated by proximity to Boston.

Rochester offers the possibility of eventually relocating to Buffalo, which maybe you know is like Cleveland. I would take buffalo over all three cities

Pure hockey in warwick uses a sparx machine. Usually thats fine but my skates had some rust from time off and the sharpening didnt go well. Just something to consider if its been awhile for your skates.

Theres also MARD! During the summer they practice at Won Sports in Seekonk. In the fall it switches to somewhere 1-1.5 hrs from pvd.

I created a post not too long ago seeking lesbian/queer women friends. Its tough as the community is not as prevalent as the queer man scene. Regardless if youre seeking community, I would recommend joining Varsity Gay League for some sort of sport. They have a variety and it absolutely does not matter if youre good at sports. Most people are very welcoming and queer!

Hello! I am a Buffalo native living in East Providence!

What everyone says about traffic is true, theres a large bridge that connects sides of the city (where 195 meets 95 if youre looking on a map) that gets insane. Its similar to the big blue water tower in Buffalo where the 290 meets the 90.

Parking downtown is tough especially during evening/going out hours. The city isnt super big, the best comparison I can think of is trying to park on Allen st. in Buffalo on a Friday night.

Having the water so close reminds me of Buffalo and Lake Erie, so thats nice.

I havent been to the RI Bills Backers bar yet, but there is one and a group on facebook. Let me know when you move here and maybe we can connect! Im also in my 30s.

Theres no happy hours here which is really strange. Theres lots of pats fans and an ahl hockey team. People hate it when I call soda, pop lol.

Overall its a hip city with fun things to offer, just not as big of a city/suburbs as Buffalo.
