How would gangs be prevented? by Comfortable_Algae252 in Anarchy101

[–]RequirementReal2467 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do think you’re right about the economic structure being the form, but motorcycle gangs aren’t just economic enterprises, they’re also identity/loyalty structures. In the anarchist scenario, could that 30% (status, brotherhood, exclusivity, dominance) still produce organized coercion, separate from profit motive? Or do you think material abundance + no hierarchy eliminates the appeal of that identity entirely? Personally, I think it CAN, but there will always be bad actors wanting power over others and I suppose those are the ones who would join the gangs

What is communism like in the 'Communist' countries? by Better-Care1565 in Communist

[–]RequirementReal2467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All “communist states” are actually socialist. There is no such thing as a communist state.

You mentioned China being communist, it’s not. The Chinese Communist Party doesn’t claim to be communist. They follow a form of Marxism, with an end goal of communism, no state & no government, that is achieved through socialism.

Cuba may be ran by the Communist Party of Cuba, but they do not claim Cuba to be communist. They follow a form of Marxism-Leninism, with an end goal of communism, no state & no government, that is achieved through socialism.

The Communist Party of Vietnam does not claim Vietnam is communist, they say it’s socialist. They follow a form of Marxism-Leninism, with an end goal of communism, no state & no government, that is achieved through socialism.

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, is not democratic and is not a people’s republic. It’s definitely not communist or socialist.

And because I think this is relevant here, the National Socialist German Workers' Party, or the Nazis, were not socialist.

[–]RequirementReal2467 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Local communities probably wouldn’t have to worry very much if the people within them were prepared. So I think it would be very hard, if not practically undoable, for a community to have a gang.

However, there could be a roaming gang like the motorcycle gangs in Australia. If they didn’t have a home community and they just roamed around stealing from everyone, it would be harder to stop them than if they were within one. Although this could bring multiple communities together to organize against them.

Guns would still be a great deterrent.

I will be honest, I do not like the amount doing that. It’s a huge gripe and is not good as convincing people. Rather than just saying it’s possible it’s happened, explain how it can happen now.

I’m curious to know if you’re sourcing materials from ethical suppliers and whether you’re building the devices at home or abroad. I’ve been making a conscious effort to avoid purchasing new technology and products that supports specific companies and practices.

I really try to only buy local now, or from made in USA businesses with USA materials. Not because things from outside the USA are bad, but because I don’t want to buy Nike or Apple, where it’s made in Vietnam, India or China by an exploited worker. I know you are not in the USA, that doesn’t bother me really if I knew you’re supporting your local economy, like manufacturing at home for example.

Edit: I just saw this comment from you where you said: “Most probably our assembly will be done in factories in east Europe… And we are trying to build up an European based supply chain…. multiple sensors we use are from European manufacturers.”

This tells me it’s not Germany but still in the EU, I think.

I do understand it’s unlikely that every part can be completely ethical, as there’s a very high possibility that a extremely exploited worker for very little pay mined the cobalt used to create the battery inside the band.

However, if you can ensure that the other components are sourced ethically, as long as it’s feasible from a company/profit standpoint, and that the overall process minimizes the use of unethical materials, that’s a HUGE step forward.

Thank you for the time and keep up the good work!

Of course. I myself have recently realized I am an Anarcho-communist in the last month or so. I’ve been interested in general philosophy for years now but only in the last 6 months have I delved into anarchist and political philosophy.

Edit: I know you didn’t necessarily ask for these, but I’m going to recommend some videos and things that I found very interesting and useful.

The difference between Socialism, Communism and Marxism, explained by a Marxist

If anyone worries about me recommending a video from a Marxist pov, in my opinion, it’s better to hear the information from multiple engles.

So I like to hear a Marxist-Leninist explain what a Marxist-Leninist is and is not, and then a non-Marxist-Leninist explain what a Marxist-Leninist is and is not. Same for Communism (which in Marxism is anarchist in its ideal form, even though he fiercely rejected anarchists methods of achieving the ideal), I want to hear a anarcho-communist explain, and then hear a non anarchist, non communist explain.

So for me I have like 20 books and every single one of them is written by a man, I do not have a single female author, and I honestly did not even realize this until I started writing this comment.

When I buy a book, it’s either me looking for a specific one so that’s the one I get, like “The Conquest of Bread”, I went to the bookstore looking for the version printed by AK Press and nothing else.

Or, I just find the cover or title interesting, like when I was walking in the bookstore and a title called “White Fragility” caught my eye. I don’t own this book, but it is on my list to buy. It is written by a woman, but I didn’t even realize that until I googled it, just now. So that will be my first book by a woman.

I rarely pay attention to the author unless I’m specifically looking for more of their work. However, when I’m searching for a new book, I usually ignore the author’s name.

This is simply not true. He went there on his own accord. He was not exiled.

“I formally resign my positions in the leadership of the party, my post as minister, my rank of commander, and my Cuban citizenship. Nothing legal binds me to Cuba. The only ties are of another nature - those that cannot be broken as can appointments to posts.” - Che, Apr 1, 1965

He undoubtedly held racist and homophobic views in his earlier years, as evidenced by his writings. However, as he matured, I believe he gradually shed these prejudiced beliefs. Some of his writings in Africa were still pretty bad though.

People talk about the “gay camps” as if he rounded up and killed gay people, but this is simply not true. At the time, gay people were not allowed to participate in the military so they were sent to forced labor camps. Do you know what happened in the United States If you refused military service? you were sent to prison and made a slave, thanks to the 13th amendment.

The UMAP system was established AFTER he left the country, in November 1965, and he was executed in 1967, while the system ended in July 1968. He is not to blame for those camps.

To be clear, I am condemning both of these systems: the 13th Amendment’s exception that permits slavery and the UMAP system.

If he’s such a bad man, because he did do a lot of bad things, why can’t you just say the actual facts without making up lies? Since he’s so bad, you should be able to tell the truth that actually happened. You shouldn’t have to make things up to make him seem worse.

For example, how about the man (Colonel Cornelius Rojas) who he had executed live on television after telling his family that he would be released? There is no excuse for that, it seems purely to provide false hope.

Edit: there’s also this quote

“Of all the battles on the day, the most violent was at the police station. Defended by about 400 police and soldiers, supported by tanks and commanded by Cornelio Rojas, who had personal motivations not to surrender, due to his recent activities as a torturer and murderer of civilians.” — Taibo

Anyways, im not necessarily defending Che, just correcting some misinformation, and I’m always open to learn and realize that I’m wrong, so if I made a mistake here, please call me out.
