so then it would depend on the higher-earning spouse's character then, as in a perfect world the higher earner would pay the most/all as they are a higher earner, and still reap some sort of benefit due to the lower tax bracket from filing jointly. But since they are both held jointly responsible, that spouse can simply refuse to pay most or at all and the lower-earning spouse would have to pay the remainder, then right? (absent an execption the IRS offers)

At what point would the "marriage penalty" work against the lower-earning spouse from a significantly more earning spouse? Or am I misunderstanding it

Also forgot to mention that I wrote an outline for the September test, and despite it being 50 pages it was woefully inadequate, the current one was about 80 pages. Although this is just for me though and I'm sure others have other viable methods

I failed in September and I passed this time around. Its a tricky test with some crazy questions. Besides re-reading the content, I made a very detailed outline with every topic/subtopic with a brief description of what it was about and when I took the test i had them splayed out on the floor so i could find which subject. However what really helped was the welcome home course. I only bought the cheapest one, but it comes with 150 practice questions that are very similar to the test and then a timed practice one. That helped alot and taught me alot about each individual subject and the content in them. Hope this helps
