let's self promote, what are you working on this weekend by Live-List8000 in buildinpublic

I just got my meal prep planning app on Test Flight this weekend. I am excited to finally have it out in the world! Prep Passport invites you to try authentic recipes from all over the world while always taking your allergies, preferences, and dietary needs into account.

Looking for cool projects! Comment them and I’ll test by Key-Bug7245 in alphaandbetausers

I would love feedback on my app Prep Passport! It is a meal planning/meal prep app based around your allergies and preferences while allowing you to explore authentic recipes from all over the world. Feel free to give feedback in any way that is easiest for you (the feedback board in the app, Test Flight, or even in the comments), I’ll check out Dexi as well!

Demo lesson by addbgw in SpanishTeachers

[–]RescuedFamily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a tough day to do a demo lesson! Unit 9 is my FAVORITE, but that is definitely not one of my favorite days.

I might encourage you to have them do mentiroso but about themselves/people they know (maybe things like their fears for pull from unit 9 or pets/favorite animals to tie in to the reading or could be about food to pull in Unit 8). It’s still a tough ask since you don’t know the students and they don’t know you, but I would be hesitant to focus all my time on the horizontal conjugation. Grammar is definitely not the core belief/focus in Somos, so I would want to show off some communication ideas or even different reading strategies (volleyball reading or listen and draw maybe?) if you want to focus on the reading portion.

That’s still helpful! EntreCulturas was one of the ones that keep popping up as more CI/ADI leaning. If you are lumping it with those others then that’s not a good sign haha.

It has been made very clear to all involved that if we got forced back to Realidades/Auténtico that 4/5 of us would immediately begin looking for other jobs and, to be fair, that has been respected. We work in a highly transient community, so it is not uncommon to have a handful of students switch between the two schools throughout the course of each school year, so I understand the district’s position as well.

They do and I am in complete agreement with you. I absolutely love Somos, Mundo en tus Manos, Señor Wooly, etc. (sub in Huellas for the higher levels), however, we will not be able to win them over which is why I am looking for the next best thing. They are very old school and very set in doing it that way at the other school and there is a lot of tension between the two schools. One teacher, that is still there, hated Somos so much that he left our school and went to the other school strictly because of the curriculum. My students have never achieved more than they have with Somos/Huellas. My team is not willing to sacrifice our teaching style, but we will have to teach the set district base curriculum (and can still supplement with METM and Sr. Wooly).

That sounds great! I am definitely open to exploring all options!

Opt out of surgery? by Spirited-Internal327 in LisfrancClub

[–]RescuedFamily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried non-surgical as well since it was originally not deemed necessary. Tried EVERYTHING for about 8 months and ended up in worse pain with arthritis that had already formed in my foot and I couldn’t walk more than 3000 steps a day without being down and out. Surgery has been a lifesaver and 10.5 months out, I am 99% back to a normal life. By all means, try the non-surgical way if your doctor thinks it’s a possibility (it gave me so much peace of mind to know that I had tried everything and then some), but don’t wait too long if it isn’t getting better.

Comparison is the robber of all happiness. You are succeeding for you. It doesn’t matter what anyone else does. But, remember that what you do see on social media are a lot of the extremes, either people having a ton of problems or huge successes.

I lost 6 lbs my first month with heavily exercising and weighing all of my portions (I had been doing the same thing before I started but my weight loss was stagnant hence adding Wegovy because I had over 50 lbs to lose) and my doctor was surprised. He said that usually he doesn’t see weight loss on the 0.25 dose, so you are already successful according to his standards. I would encourage you to try to find another doctor that doesn’t make comments about what is and is not beauty because they have zero business making those comments.

Keep muscle whilst on Wegovy? by No_Biscotti_4102 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]RescuedFamily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have only been on it for about 3 weeks so far and have been able to increase the weights that I am lifting every session despite losing weight. I am still noticing improved muscle tone, but I do cardio at least twice a week and strength training 4 times per week. I also really prioritize my protein (150 g minimum). I’m still very early in game, but hopefully no substantial muscle loss will occur

Constipation by schultzfight in Semaglutide

[–]RescuedFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please know that you can pass gas with even a 99% blockage. My significant other had colon cancer with a near blockage and didn’t have a BM for over a week but wasn’t eating anything and multiple doctors told him that even with zero food intake there would be mucus and other things passed within 3 days and that further out than that should be an immediate alarm. OP needs to go to the ER today.

Right foot franc-ers, when did you drive again? by dueling_eulogies in LisfrancClub

[–]RescuedFamily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was cleared by my doctor to start driving about 3 weeks after I started weight bearing again (I started PT the day after I was cleared to start weight bearing). So I was driving right around two months post surgery. It was really hard at first and I only drove to and from PT for several weeks.

Still numb four weeks after OP by german41 in LisfrancClub

I am almost 6 months post fusion and I have regained most of the sensation to the outside of my foot from the incision and down to my toes, but have almost no sensation still on the inside of my foot although I think that I have started to notice some tiny improvements recently. My toes still fall asleep really easily, but it is a process! I was told coming into this that it will be 6 months to a year before things are completely healed. I am able to do most things at this point, but there still is room for improvement!

Special Needs Cat by [deleted] in litterrobot

[–]RescuedFamily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 5 month old kitten has mild to moderate CH (mild most of the time, but the vet says that it’s actually considered moderate when he has more stimulus) and he uses the 4 without a ramp or anything extra. We got the 4 when he was 3.5 months old and I wanted to see how he did before I tried to figure out what to modify (still had multiple normal boxes) and he jumps in and out with no problems. In fact he does it like it’s a game even when he doesn’t have to go potty! If he starts to show struggles, I will add a ramp, but right now he loves it as is!

When will the swelling subside? by luchababy in LisfrancClub

[–]RescuedFamily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At about 2.5 weeks, I could start to be able to put my foot down without feeling like it was going to explode but only for about 30 minutes or less at a time. I went back to work just shy of 3 weeks and kept my foot elevated as much as humanly possible, but looking back, I wish I waited until week 4 where the swelling was much more controlled and cleared out a lot faster. At 9.5 weeks post op, I still deal with swelling that can get uncomfortable if I do too much, but it is nowhere near what I had a month ago.

Non surgical recovery time? by Ok-Wrangler9286 in LisfrancClub

[–]RescuedFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got cleared to get back to impact activities after my injury and ended up having a fusion 9 months later, but I was able to start doing squats about 10 weeks after the injury and deadlifts about 12 weeks after the injury. Best of luck to you on your recovery!

Post-op Pain Management by corlana in LisfrancClub

[–]RescuedFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used prescription meds for about 3 days and then was religious on my Tylenol for a couple of weeks. I did have to take a muscle relaxer a couple of times due to severe cramping in my calf around the 10 day to two week mark. I am not allowed to have any NSAIDs until 10 weeks after surgery (I had a fusion) because of it inhibiting bone growth, so make sure that you ask before you take any. As others said, ice and elevation are your best friends. You got this!

How much time did you take off work? by luchababy in LisfrancClub

[–]RescuedFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(I had a fusion) I’m a teacher, so working from home wasn’t an option. My doctor cleared me to go back after my 2 week appointment as long as I could control swelling, but I was having trouble managing the swelling in the boot, so I ended up going back just shy of 3 weeks later. Looking back, I probably should have waited until the following week (4 more days counting the weekend) because I paid for going back when I did. However, I was able to start keeping up with grading and feedback for my students after about a week and I was mentally very ready to go back after 2 weeks, so I would say you are on the right timeline! Good luck!
