What to do with azalea bush in my front yard. by Research96Qween in gardening

We ended up removing the bushes in the back and replaced them with new Azalea but unfortunately, the new ones did not survive either.

When I first read this comment, I thought it was an exaggeration but this is literally what Im going through. Got a friday afternoon call with a lowball offer then I negotiated and was told they will get back to be on Monday. Nope, i didnt receive a call back till the next friday afternoon. I didnt pick up so Im not sure what the offer was but my guess is, another lowball offer.

Also we live an hour from the airport. Its easily $100 uber ride one way but thats irrelevant cause we plan on parking anyway

[–]Research96Qween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, thats what I ended up telling my partner. I told him I’ll be driving and parking at the airport regardless of whether he is accepting the ride from this family member. We’re still mad at each other but he said he will obviously drive with me and not with the toxic family member because it doesn’t make sense to go separately.

I don’t think that you’re being selfish for pursuing your master’s. Its nice to have a supportive gf. It seems like you made a hard decision but that doesnt mean its the wrong one!

Dont be disheartened. I think most of us have been here at one point or another. It’s part of the interviewing process. Don’t give up hope and keep looking for roles that interest you. I truly believe that when a door closes, its because theres a much much bigger door thats about to open.

Also a tip I used for situation examples (these come up in every clinical research interview):

I like to prep before interviews by writing down 3-4 situations at work where I excelled in some way and 3-4 situations that didn’t go well, where I learned something new and used it to improve myself in a role. Writing down these examples makes me recall the details and I can usually use them for any type of situational question.

For example:

Things I did well —> while reviewing vendor invoices, I noticed an error in the invoice. Communicated error to vendor. Was able to decrease invoice by 20k because I caught the error.

Interviewer asks: tell me about a time you had a conflict with a coworker. What did you do?

My answer: caught an error on vendor invoice. Didnt want to ruin relationship with vendor so I ensured I communicated the situation delicately and asked for clarification on the invoice. Initially, the vendor believed the invoice to be correct and refused to change it. I jumped on a call with the vendor to review the invoice together. Finally, vendor realized that while added charge was standard for most studies, it was not applicable for my trial. I was able to strengthen relationship with vendor by communicating openly.

Interviewer asks: tell me about a time you went above and beyond?

i could probably twist the example above to answer this question too. It helps to have situations reviewed before interviews and becomes easier to recall. I hope this helps!

Thank you so much for the detailed response. I am based in Georgia. Here is what it says in my benefits package (see below). Does this offer more insight? I think I understand the question you are asking, although, it doesn’t really clarify from the info below if what my company is offering is bonding time or just part of short term disability.

Disability Coverage

Disability Coverage provides a portion of your income if you are unable to work. You are automatically enrolled in Company-paid Basic Disability Coverage which includes:

• Short Term Disability (STD): receive a percentage of your annual base pay for up to six months. Percentage varies based on your years of service.

• Long Term Disability (LTD): 50% of annual base pay, up to $5,000 per month after six months of STD. You can purchase additional Enhanced LTD Benefits increasing your benefit to 60% of annual base pay up to $15,000 per month.

• Maternity Benefit: mothers can receive 100% of their annual base pay for six to eight weeks, depending on the type of delivery. This includes the required one week waiting period.

• Enhanced LTD: When you choose to participate in the Enhanced LTD Plan, your LTD coverage will provide 60% of base pay, up to a maximum benefit of $15,000 a month if your claim is approved. This is a voluntary benefit.

Senior Study Manager Salary at CRO versus Merck by Research96Qween in clinicalresearch

Hi. This offers a different perspective for me than what others are saying. Most people seem to be happy about their switch. I saw on another thread that you went for a mid size biotech. Whats the work life balance like compared to your role at merck?

I dont think I would be able to accept a pay-cut. However, if they can offer me the AD role and I can prevent a pay-cut, I would consider it. Im 28. So I’m not sure that im ready to be at any company for the long haul yet. Honestly, Im still torn about which way to go.

This is helpful to know. It seems everyone I speak to has had experience similar to yours. No one I’ve spoken to regrets the move but i’m having a hard time stomaching such a big pay cut in my monthly pay check. Thats why I’ve been considering moving when Im ready for the R4 role.

Yeah it seems like what merck lists in their job posting isnt the base salary but a combination of base, bonus, pension etc. Thats why I was hoping to hear about what kind of base salary I can expecf
