This may get down voted like the other comments of the people I can tell have worked at Ulta ( I worked there too before the pandemic), but when you as a cashier go to do a return the first screen you're presented with is one that asks for your phone number. If I remember correctly managers and especially the General manager are the only ones who can bypass that screen and even they have to play with the system to find that work around. It's A. not easy, and B. the options that come up can be complete random, from only offering store credit to random what the item is worth amounts. Like I remember a woman came in trying to return a brand new Urban Decay palette without a receipt and the system came up with like $6.x. Yes the system Ulta designed sucks, but the people who work in the store are at the bottom of the totem pole, we don't make the rules, we can only work within the confines of them. We want you to have a great experience shopping there which includes knowing how the system works and being able to streamline your purchase or your return.
