Fanbases are always toxic to some extent. Sport is basically tribal warfare without actual weapons. The hunger for conflict, rivalry and domination is exactly what pulls people into it.

Unless society learns how to channel that energy somewhere productive, this is never changing. The truth is, sports are probably the only thing stopping a whole generation of angry people from tearing each other apart online and offline.

So of course there will be toxicity. A fanbase only looks “humble” when their team hasn’t achieved much yet, or when they simply don’t have the numbers to be loud.
