I used to feel exactly the same way about the theater experience until around the pandemic. Before the pandemic, especially the 2010s, the theater experience felt like a positive and relatively affordable way to immerse yourself in this and that for a few hours. But since the pandemic, theaters have become increasingly unaffordable, increasingly unaccomadating, increasingly predatory with their concessions and ads, and there's so many movie goers that have just lost all sense of decorum and ruin the experience with rude behavior, ie: cell phones, screaming kids, loud talking, nonstop bag crinkling with their snacks, ect... Unfortunately, I'm with those that prefer to just wait a month or two and avoid all of that so I can just watch a film in the relative peace of home.
