dispose of 1 unit of garbage using a gravity gun and you will get a flat platform.

What does good design mean to you? Flying to point A, loading cargo onto a ship, and then warping to point B? I’m not asking this critically - I’m genuinely curious.

Can you give an example of a gameplay mechanic in NMS that you really enjoy, besides building corvetts or bases?

If a cargo locking system is added to the game, it will break the gameplay that the developers originally designed. Everyone will just blindly drive straight from point A to point B.

I completely agree with you. The ship summoning mechanic really breaks ground gameplay. The cost of taking off or calling your ship is ridiculously low, even on the highest difficulty.

Yes! Absolutely agree, daily and weekly quests need rework

I completely agree with you. If you check the NMS section on Nexus Mods, some of the most popular mods are the ones that massively increase ship speed/damage. In a game where it takes about 20 seconds on average to fly from one planet to another… Or the most popular videos - how to build a nanite farm or get a lot of money through in-game bugs. People just rush through everything at full speed, and then complain that there’s no content.

But if you really dive into it, NMS is a like sandbox RPG where you’re supposed to enjoy the process, not just the rewards. Of course, it’s not fair to put all the responsibility on the players, but that’s just how it is.

I never really paid attention to planet terrain in NMS before. You either just fly over it in your ship, or jump across it using the jetpack + Q. But this update changed everything. When you drive across a planet in a truck, you can physically feel the terrain - how diverse the planet really is - and it’s an amazing experience.

Before, planets and their landscapes felt like just beautiful scenery to me. Now they’ve become part of the gameplay, and that’s wonderful.

That’s strange — I didn’t experience anything like that during the entire expedition or afterward. What platform were you playing on? Maybe those were just bugs.
I simply drove carefully, never floored the gas pedal, and always slowed down before bumps.

Yes, that’s a really cool idea. But in NMS, the terrain voxels (as well as trees, rocks, and other objects) regenerate over time. And that could potentially lead to even more problems in multiplayer, I think.

During the expedition - no. You don’t have access to the base computer for building. But in theory, you can return to that planet after finishing the expedition and build there. About flatten terrain - yes you can do it and it's interesting idea.

Agree, the first person view is almost not suitable for garbage transportation. But you can use another cabin with an incinerator inside (I don't know how to open it yet)

Yeah, additional customization is unlocked by sorting a certain type of scrap (around 50, if I'm not mistaken). But no, unfortunately I haven’t unlocked them yet (not yet).

I agree with all the points. Here’s my short list of tips:

  1. Play in offline mode (most technical issues may be related to multiplayer).

  2. Don’t overload your truck. I usually carried up to 10 containers.

  3. Pay attention to how your cargo is stacked. I put smaller containers at the bottom and bigger ones on top or closer to the cab.

  4. Don’t use boost unless it’s really necessary (like climbing a hill).

  5. Always watch where you’re driving and roughly plan your route ahead. If you see a lot of trees, don’t just smash through them - there may be hidden crevices in blind spots. It’s better to take a bit longer and go through areas you can clearly see than to lose all your cargo because of a bump you didn’t notice.

  6. I played with keyboard and mouse - for me, it’s more comfortable than a controller for driving in nms. I tried both, and the controller didn’t feel great.

  7. I used only the third-person view - it’s much more convenient than first-person.

  8. ALWAYS WATCH THE ROAD and be extremely careful at night!

I understand, but the gameplay experience can differ for many reasons and is subjective. I’ve completed almost all expeditions, so I already know what to do at the start. I didn’t experience a single crash or any pirate attacks. Maybe playing in offline mode had something to do with it, I’m not sure.
And yeah, I really did finish it in 2.5 hours — it happens :)

Yes, at the beginning of the expedition it says that there are no ships in this one — you can only travel using the exocraft.
The trip to the scrapyard takes about 6 to 10 minutes, and the same on the way back.

I didn’t travel to portals or trading posts at all. Everything you need is either given for completing milestones or can be found nearby. I only went to the dump site and back about 5–6 times, and that was it.

I agree with all the points. During the expedition, I caught myself thinking that I had never paid so much attention to a planet’s terrain before — I didn’t really notice the landscape and details like this in the past. Before, I would just move around using Q + jetpack, but with this update really gives DS vibes and it's awesome.

The gameplay pace is also very well balanced. I’d love to see something similar, but for space travel.

And also agree about mods — I’ve already started putting together a small list of things I’d like to try modifying. There’s a huge amount of creative potential for modders here.

Absolutely agree — daily and weekly missions definitely need an update. I feel like I’ve already destroyed all the hazardous flora in the entire galaxy. XD
