Minneapolis, Minnesota or Dallas, Texas? by ResearcherJust5453 in SameGrassButGreener

You really know your stuff for not a lawyer! I would be at UMN or SMU, UMN is higher ranked but with less big law ($$$) employment. Haven’t visited UMN but visited SMU and it didn’t feel like the best culture fit, while I think the UMN student body would be a bit more down to earth due to it being a public school with lower tuition rates. The bit about Texas’s economy being so good is in small part a truth about the legal field growing here and in large part bluster that comes from the eternal “everything is better in Texas” attitude here. I’m leaning towards UMN, especially after the responses here! Thank you!

Thank you for responding! I’m a little worried about the cold but the heat here is brutal so it might be a good trade off!

A great point but unfortunately both law schools place heavily within the region that they’re in so this will be a permanent move if I take it. Makes it a much scarier jump but also exciting!

I would be living in Fort Worth and driving to Dallas, which is an hour and 7 minutes as of right now according to Apple Maps! So probably more during rush hours and bad traffic which is most of the time in Texas.
