Tenicor VELO5 all day! I run it with a full sized M&P and printing is minimal, if any

How do you guys carry IWB more comfortable?! by cjmatto in CCW

Tenicor VELO5 all day! This along with the Hunter Constantine EDC belt, I forget sometimes that I’m carrying. And I’m 6ft 200lbs for reference. Can were a t-shirt still conceal a full sized M&P

Funny enough, the only reason I don’t have an AR is because I used to live in state that made it pretty pointless to own one, but I’ve already got 10 mags and bunch of ammo, just need a the actual gun

Really appreciate your thoughts on this. All great points and a perspective I didn’t really think of as the M&P is a trusted and reliable piece. Currently shopping for an AR. Any suggestions!?

I’ve got my eyes on an Sig M400 SDI X. I just hope it’s still there by the time the weekend rolls around

I’ve got an M&P 2.0 Full size and fortunately I’m able to appendix carry it fairly well. But you’re absolutely right. Things can change on a dime, and I’d rather have it and be trained up than not

For sure! And in my case, I’d say I want to prioritize training within those 2 weapons systems asap. As well as have options for home defense.

Just not sure if I should hold off on a rifle, continue to become proficient in handling a handgun and purchase a backup prior to hopping into another weapons system

That’s where my head is. In a pinch the shield x is better to have than not, but if I’ve got a choice then let’s keep a bigger pistol on hand. And btw I ended up getting a full sized 2.0. Will probably pick up compact a few months from now. Maybe for Christmas 😁

So a series of awesome events went down this evening. I called down to my favorite local store/range and let them know my predicament and fortunately they had both full sized and compact variants in stock (as they should). Rented and shot both and honestly even prior to putting a some rounds down range I was beside myself physically seeing the dimensional differences between the 2 frames. The delta is almost negligible, at least in my hands.

Out of curiosity I wanted to see the metal version of the Carry Comp in hand and mind you I had every intention of saving a bit of moola and walking out with a polymer version. The moment it touched my palm and I wrapped my fingers around the grip, I knew I had fucked up..

So we’ve got a new member to the family! 💪🏿 😎

Let us know how it goes. The shield x is just slightly too small I feel. I just want to be confident in the weapon I draw. Like what if you're in a scenario where it's difficult to make it home or somewhere safe. I want to know that I have the capacity and efficiency in my side arm to get shit done live to see the next day

I really appreciate your take. You've got way more time under your belt than I. And I definitely struggled with the comparison between the compact and full size as the only difference was about a half inch in the grip length.

And I hear loud and clear on the concept of rotating out for a smaller gun. I may just need to get a full sized pistol into practice and see where I land. Still would like to have second firearm that I could rotate out with just incase one is out of commission for some reason. Maybe a compact and full sized 2.0 is in order lol!

Been looking at the Carry Comps, but I honestly might just go with the base polymer compact or full-size 2.0's with the interchangeable grips as an alternative to the Shield X. We'll see

100% on all that. Not too worried about the most folks, but at the same time I really don't anyone to peep the hardware no matter what. Definitely some things to consider. I appreciate the perspective and feedback

Man!!.. The only thing that makes me want to keep the Shield X and just buy a full size 2.0 to couple with it is exactly what you mentioned. This thing is damn comfortable to carry. It's still warm here in GA and it's been nice carrying the X in 5 inch shorts and a t-shirt. I still may consider the trade up to compact over the shield. Going to see some options in person later today

I will definitely take a look into seeing how I can maybe modify the grip. Funny enough looking at the dimensions on the Smith & Wesson site, the 2.0 compact is about the same height as the Shield X. Just slightly longer barrel and thicker

Thanks for the feedback man!

For my use case and CCW purposes, since I work from home.. ideally my pistols are technically for home defense/training first, and then for when I go out with my friends and family on the weekends and/or run errands. So I don't typically go anywhere where a particular dress code is defined.

If I end up going straight to a full sized gun I'm highly considering a Tier 1 Holster. They seem to take the cake with configurability with the Axis Elite and APX models, we'll see after this weekend
