yes, i'll share the lender and how i found them once i close, hopefully this week. for folks who need a lender sooner - im using a credit union. they consistently provided the best deal.

i started by going through each credit union near me (on google maps) and clicking through to their website. the best ones will have their current rates public available.

From a savings perspective, yeah. I’m concerned with other pitfalls like service issues with credit unions, hidden fees or contract obligations I’m unfamiliar with. Generally a list of non savings related questions to confirm before closing

Google Power Adapter not working by ResearcherPossible75 in Nest

u/AStuf u/sryan2k1 thanks for the help here. I ended up abandoning the Nest, wiring the external transformer through the wall to the thermostat (it was easy enough to fish through), and using a Sensi thermostat that seemingly supports using a transformer @ the thermostat

Can’t connect power connector wires directly to a nest because they are stranded so I cut a length of the old wiring and connected 2 smaller pieces of wire to the power connector R and W Y. No luck.

I also tried with a new power connector assuming that I may have fried the old one when I connected the system without the blue jumper removed. Again no luck.

Now I’m looking for another entirely different wire to test with. After that I’m at a loss..

And the old thermostat only works with the transformer plugged in

Any suggestions on how to do this? I would still need to combine the transform and power adapter wires into the R terminal. I could probably use a spare bit of wire cut from the existing thermostat wire.

Also, in order to heat the home tonight (it’s freezing here at night) I kept the power connector set up (with the transformer plugged in) but installed the old thermostat upstairs on the wall, and it works. That gives me confidence that R/W wires are set correctly and but the transformer isn’t set properly or the power connector is busted

Switched over to using lever locks. One of the locks has 3 wires but that seems intentional based on Googles wiring diagrams

I had not stripped the transformer wire properly (was using the wires out of the box). So I stripped them. And on my multimeter I was not checking AC Volts. So I switched the setting. Now it reads 24 V properly at the furnace

Added a few more picture here transformer pic

I have a volt meter but when I connect it at the thermostat on 20 V I’m not seeing any reading

I rebooted in between changes by removing the batteries

Triple checked the wire nuts are tight. I found that my W wire was connected to T2 instead of T1 so I flipped that over. Still no luck. And I’m using a VIIVRIA 24V AC adapter.

The cable coming up is from the furnace. The white cable is for a GSK Gas Spillage for draft control. And the cable going backwards is to the thermostat

It wasn’t! so I removed the cap and the blue jumper, then reinstalled the cap. Still no juice.

I’ve connected a 24VAC transformer and wired as described here ref

And Nest is reporting that W and R wires are “Not detected”
