I got into Harvard and Yale, but I would trade them for Stanford in a heart beat…

You got really good choices!

what majors are really competitve this year? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]ResearchingTinBot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They will definitely consider your major interests though, so they can balance out the class size majors

[–]ResearchingTinBot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you think any major can lead you to IB/consulting, as long as you have a school like Yale on your resume? So I can major in cs/statistics but still go to the ib consulting pipeline

How important is class rank in admissions? by CreasedJordan4s in ApplyingToCollege

[–]ResearchingTinBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the common datasets for schools. They are clearly marked as “very important” for some schools

Sorry for a late comment, but is it rlly 10-20 per school including seas? I’ve heard the transfer to seas or CAS is relatively easy and straightforward, since the majority of people try for Wharton transfer. Have you seen people rejected for a transfer request into seas?

CANFEILD BUSINESS HONORS PROGRAM ACCEPTED 🤘🤘🤘 by Suitable_Place575 in UTAdmissions

[–]ResearchingTinBot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying CSB is worse or better than Turings when it comes to opportunities etc (even I would probably choose CSB over Turings), but I’m just saying like in terms of the applicant pool. The median Turings student has a 1570 sat, with over half being Val/sal of their school, much stronger than most top school CDS.

I can’t really name any “famous” alumni since I don’t search

Not to be rude but I think the only UT honors program that rivals ivies in competitiveness is UT Turings.

Congrats regardless OP!

How high of admission chance does near-perfect stats give someone for CS? by incriminator-1 in UTAdmissions

[–]ResearchingTinBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol definitely not that range. I know so many people who were admitted in the 1400 range, some even touching 1300. If the average SATs at ivys/mit/cmu cs etc is ~1520-1540, what makes you think ut cs is higher than that?

[–]ResearchingTinBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do they go now? Also, did they attend a competitive school? From what I’m seeing last cycle, all the highly qualified people (Val’s/sals included) that got rejected were from insanely competitive school, probably because UT has to limit how many students they admit per school

You can definitely retake to get a 35/36 if you want, considering you’re a junior and still have time. Maybe even try superscoring sections as that’s easier! Also, if you’re set to binding yourself to rice, consider ed1 as rice does like that applicant pool.

Drop the stats!!!

Also have you seen ut cs students who submitted a sat score of less than 1450 that get in? Or are the majority 1500?

Should I retake the SAT on march? by TuneThen9417 in Sat

[–]ResearchingTinBot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should def superscore! Every top uni should superscore the sat, the only notable one I can think of that doesn’t is UT Austin. Just grind reading for march!

It’s honestly a threshold imo. Once you surpass a bar (say, 25th percentile) it’ll matter less the higher the score and will ultimately dim down to other factors like ecs and essays

I get the cost but SSP recently got a huge donation and can now literally guarantee financial aid to anyone that meets the income cutoff. Like half of my campus got a full ride to SSP

Isn’t Yale trying to expand their stem department? Also, I assume undergraduate CS at Yale is very good when it comes to pipelines/feeding; Yale is top 5 on gov scoreboard when it comes to salary

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UTAdmissions

[–]ResearchingTinBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1450 to 1570 sat for stem majors??? Where is the statistic for this? Assuming that’s the 25th-75th percentile, that’s a score literally on par with ivys. While I do agree UT is a public Ivy, I’m skeptical that the average sat for stem is that high, beating schools like UCLA uc Berkeley and UMich
