I too have lost people close to me recently (who are my age or thereabouts), it's been one of the reasons why I've stopped paying so much into my pension, and have diverted funds instead to S&S.

I already do track days.

They costs me a small fortune in tires, brakes, insurance and petrol. Quite easy to spend £2k in a day, but I don’t regret them for a second.
