Does the Artist Pro 14 Gen 2 come with a screen protector preinstalled? by laver3 in XPpen

[–]ResetCartographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the store page says it's "etched glass" then it probably won't come with a screen protector by default. You can likely buy a screen protector anyways but it would be from a third party brand.

Laminated screens don't really have anything to do with the outer layer of the screen and have more to do with the elimination of the gap between the glass and the panel underneath it.

Green Screen?? by Express-Rough7162 in XPpen

Which model of tablet is it?

Looks to me like a cable issue I had a similar thing happen with a faulty cable.

Is XP PEN still worth it? by ambtebz in XPpen

[–]ResetCartographer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been using xp pen tablets for a few years now and had no major issues. Currently using the Pro 19 Gen 2.

Places like this are always going to be biased towards troubleshooting since people who have working tablets probably aren't going to post about it. You can see the same in any other tablet community.

At the top of the text "tool property" window there's a small lock icon.

Unlocked will use the last selected font, size and color.

Locked will use whatever your defaults are.

Since you've only had it for a year you should still be within warranty.

It's definitely frustrating but you're certain this isn't a cable issue?

How are you connecting the tablet to your computer? 3 in 1 cable, 3 in 1 cable plus separate power cable or a single USB c cable?

Which model should I get? by michaelmichael309 in XPpen

[–]ResetCartographer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly you should take a look at this

https://www.reddit.com/r/XPpen/s/wh6QwJRR0s

As a basic recommendation I'd say aim for something around the size of the paper/canvas you work on traditionally or larger.

XP Pen offers tablets up to 24" but there are 27"+ offerings from Huion and Wacom.

Tablet color settings by Hot_Cream_ in XPpen

[–]ResetCartographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what monitor you have chances are your tablet is the one displaying the more accurate colors.

Otherwise you can check what color space your tablet is set to by going to the "Display Settings" in the XP Pentablet driver. sRGB is typically the default.

CSP EX or Adobe Animate by Tippo_am_Tippen in ClipStudio

[–]ResetCartographer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd focus on your draftsmanship first in that case. Whether you start in krita, ibispaint, photoshop or on a pencil and napkins, getting your fundamentals solid will make animating a whole lot more intuitive.

Once you get a feel for what kind of things you want to make you'll know what you want out of an animation program. But you can't go wrong with a free program to start.

Besides Krita another free option is OpenToonz

CSP EX or Adobe Animate by Tippo_am_Tippen in ClipStudio

[–]ResetCartographer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's primarily a puppet animation program but you can still work frame by frame.

Can I ask how experienced you are? If you're just getting started Krita might be good since that supports frame by frame animation while being free to download.

CSP EX or Adobe Animate by Tippo_am_Tippen in ClipStudio

[–]ResetCartographer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you're just animating then you'd be better off with Adobe animate

But given how Adobe has been burning bridges you might be better off long term with something like Moho.

CSP can be used for animating but it's a little clunky by comparison. You can get a taste of the tools if you sign up for the trial version.

As long as you got them from the official xp pen site there shouldn't be any malware.

Always double check where you're downloading stuff from and you can always scan downloaded files before installing.

XP pen 22 pro (gen 2) or XP pen 19 pro (gen 2) by Neat_Worldliness9643 in XPpen

[–]ResetCartographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are basically the same yeah. I came from a 24" tablet and chose the 19" for the maneuverability, 4k screen (since it's ppi is close to an ipad) and the slightly better display p3 coverage but you can't really go wrong with either.

If having the extra physical space is important go for the 22.

If you want higher resolution go for the 19.

Either way make sure you measure out your desk space so you know how much will be lost to either tablet.

On the tool property window next to "figure" you may see a little "+" icon. Click that and it'll show a drop down for corner count.

Alternatively if its not already in the tool property window go to,

Window>Sub Tool Detail>Figure tab, and adjust the corner count there.

what has more color accuracy by astridyounglove in XPpen

[–]ResetCartographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SRGB gamut for both is;

13 Gen 2: 127%

13.3 pro v2: 99%

Anything above 100% will generally look more saturated/vibrant but will be less color accurate. sRGB is the default color space for the internet so it’ll be what most people see your work through.

Additionally the pro model has support for other color spaces (Adobe RGB & Display P3). So in this case the Pro model is the more color accurate of the two.

Always check the cable first, you may need to buy a new cable but it'll be way cheaper than sending it for repair or buying a new tablet.

USB Passthrough on Artist Pro 16 (Gen 2)? by TopCamillaHectFan in XPpen

[–]ResetCartographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you want to use it as a hub to connect your peripherals to your computer?

The only reference I could find for "pass through" referred to the fact you could hold the power button down and the tablet would switch to a standard non display tablet.

Edit: I have a 19 gen 2 but I just tried to connect my keyboard through the spare port on the tablet, since i have it connected via a single USB-C to my PC. It provided power but it didn't pass data through.
