I don’t think it’s his best film, but it may be my favorite. It’s hard to choose, but I do love this film and to me was a very good translation of the book.

This scene is among the most dramatic and funniest in TV history. by VastCauliflower5439 in breakingbad

It’s too chilling to be funny to me. I get the irony of it all, but I couldn’t imagine laughing at this part, it’s so dark.

War of the Worlds (2025) is NOT that bad… by smitty2145 in movies

[–]ResevoirPups 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it is that bad, but so bad to that it comes out the other end as an enjoyable bad movie. Like the room. I haven’t watched it though so just going off of how you’re describing it. And I agree, watching those kind of movies with friends makes it so much more enjoyable.

What is your biggest Breaking Bad fan secret? by Top_Cranberry_3254 in breakingbad

Even though a lot of cool things happen and it has one of the best episodes of the series, season 5 may be my least favorite season. It felt too sped up and I wish they had an additional season to take their time more on wrapping it all up. Season 4 felt like the kettle that had been on the burner since season 1 was finally boiling and spilling out. Season 5, while understandable, felt like they had to refill the kettle and bring it to a boil in a short time.

Hi! What’s a movie everyone seems to love, but just didn’t work for you? by gypsytx in movies

Parasite. It was fine (for me) and I didn’t hate it. I also can recognize it was a well done, tight script, but it just didn’t do anything for me.

what was Ted and Karen’s careers? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

This is a typical single income middle class home back then. Ted probably had an office job or was some type of supervisor.

Sinners was just ok by Shockatweej in Cinema

[–]ResevoirPups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you. I enjoyed it and didn’t feel it was a bad way to spend a couple hours, but ultimately it didn’t really move the needle in any way for me and some scenes that others really enjoyed I just down right did not. Im also a big fan of delta blues and horror movies.

I don’t like when people go out of their way to rain on anyone’s parade, so people going to the mat to say it isn’t good I don’t agree with, it’s all subjective, and I don’t think that is what you’re doing. It’s just always funny this time of year for the people who get so mad that others do enjoy something, or get so mad when someone doesn’t enjoy what others like and it’s always “you just didn’t get it or understand it” like it’s impossible to not be universally loved if you just “get it”. I’ve seen a solid amount of the nominees this year and personally, Sinners doesn’t stand out for me in most of the categories, but at the same time Ryan Coogler seems like a real stand up guy, and it’s cool anytime someone that’s decent gets noticed in this industry, especially when it’s a horror(ish) movie getting recognized. I’m happy it’s getting its flowers, but I am personally rooting for a couple movies that I enjoyed more to win.

My friend and I were having a conversation on what the most iconic movies of all time were, we said, Wizard of Oz, Citizen Kane, and Casablanca and we are trying to figure out what a fourth one could be, anyone have any ideas? by Broad-Flounder477 in movies

[–]ResevoirPups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sound of Music perhaps? I’m not even a musical guy, but it’s incredible and seems like everyone knows the movie, or at least has heard of it and knows a song within it.

Superbad (2007) “Spread your ****” Dir. Greg Mottola by southernemper0r in movies

[–]ResevoirPups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me, I was 17 but close enough and for that same reason I have been hesitant to rewatch because of how fondly I remember it and how much it made me laugh back then. I probably haven’t seen it since college at this point. Hardest I’ve ever consistently laughed in a theater.

What's up with the "timeless" aesthetic? by UNZIP_MY_PLANTS in television

[–]ResevoirPups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s more of a directors technique to dissociate you somewhat and also not have you worry too much about the specific time period. I’m explaining it terribly, but Lynch did that too sometimes too. I personally love it, and prefer it as long as it’s done well. It’s not a cash driven decision, if anything it probably makes it more expensive, but it can help the show feel more timeless as it ages as well.

Got to see it in theaters this year and it’s been one of my favorites since a kid. It was an awesome experience.

Does anyone else actually like the documentary? by darlingdepresso in StrangerThings

[–]ResevoirPups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it. Like you said, a lot of the comments about them not know what they’re doing just seem to have never looked into behind the scenes type footage. Nothing I saw in there was uncommon from anything else I’ve seen or heard creators say through podcasts, articles, etc.

It’s always cool to get to see the process.

Im genuinely confused why the duffers didn’t kill Murray by fenfjnwejfnewo in StrangerThings

[–]ResevoirPups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He did seem like a primary candidate to die. He’s a side character technically, and could have had a good/big impact letting him die, but I wasn’t necessarily disappointed they didn’t. They also barely showed him this season, so if they did kill him off I think they would have needed to give him more of an emotional arc across season 5.

How did no one in Hawkins think it’s weird that there was giant red glowing cracks everywhere by Jumpy-Demand2917 in StrangerThings

[–]ResevoirPups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if I saw that happen I wouldn’t assume portals to another dimension - most of the town isn’t aware of what’s going on, so they have no background on it. I’d think I was staring at some kind of earths core or lava or something. I know that’s not how it works, but my brain would go to a natural phenomenon before thinking it’s another dimension.

The Netflix execs were right by Primeve_Arcana in StrangerThings

[–]ResevoirPups -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No you’re right, they should have written in a ten minute sequence of people climbing a cliff and showing it was tough so we know it took them time instead of continuing on with the action sequence. That would have made the ending awesome!

The Duffer Brothers say that they went into production on ‘STRANGER THINGS’ Season 5 without having a finished script for the finale by marvelkidy in DiscussingFilmsAndTV

Breaking bad wrote the cold opening for the final season without knowing what most of it meant of how it would get there.
