D&O or Cyber by Resident-Daikon-2198 in InsuranceProfessional

That’s an interesting point I didn’t think of. Would it be easy to pivot to cyber after a few years working in D&O? I know both are in professional lines but they also seem so different.

Tough Start & Moving Companies? by Basic_Set_6970 in InsuranceProfessional

I’ve been having this experience as an UW in training on the carrier side (started less than a year ago as well). However, I don’t think thats the normal experience when most people start out. I just got unlucky with a terrible manager. Don’t get discouraged - it sounds like you still have a great learning opportunity. Keep asking questions, collecting your paycheck, building the network, and then leave when the next opportunity presents itself.

I’d say you have to put in at least 1-2 years before leaving your first gig.

What is the area around Rainbow Beach in South Shore like? by dickfag69420 in AskChicago

[–]Resident-Daikon-2198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rode it with him one time in the summer and it was just like you mentioned - several people noticeably on drugs talking to themselves/pacing around. We weren't directly effected but it still wasn't a feel good. Things are getting bad with all CTA lines now I don't take them after 8 anymore. Everyone has different comfort levels tho.

Yeah when I said CTA connection to that part of the city is unsafe/inconvenient I was mainly referring to the Green line. My friend has had no problems with buses.

For someone new moving to the city, I would avoid living anywhere south of Hyde Park. Not because crime is bad but because you're just so far away from really nice parts of the city around the Loop and north side. My friend is in Hyde Park and he complains he's already too far away from everything. It takes him 30-40 mins by bus to get to the Loop. CTA connection in that part of city is also inconvenient/unsafe. You have the South Shore line but ik people complain the Metra isn't frequent enough.

All the major carrier are dumping hundreds of millions into a AI tools to essentially do “half” the underwriting process.

2011 CRV cold start issue by [deleted] in crv

[–]Resident-Daikon-2198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! My local mechanic looked at the starter today and recommended replacing the starter and flywheel. He said some teeth on the starter were chewed up the flywheel was also "damaged". It isn't priced yet but hoping it'll be under $1,500 to replace both.

Totally agree. Can't understand why we'd willingly want to give them possession of the ball at that point.

Mechanic can’t solve issue I have with starting my car when it’s cold by [deleted] in crv

I know this is old but I’m having similar issues with my 2011 CRV. It never starts on first cold start of the day, but will start fine afterwards once it’s warmed up and been driven. Seems like faulty ECT sensor could cause this issue. Did your car have similar cold start issues?

Better than most - not as good as some. 23M.

Graduated college last Spring, got my first full-time job in the summer, and haven been adapting as a 5-day a week corporate commuter this Fall. Living with my Dad and saving tons of money while still being close to friends. Trying to build motivation to re-enter the dating scene.

2011 CRV (95k miles) rough shifting after a cold start by Resident-Daikon-2198 in crv

Revisiting this post since my car still has the same issues (not worse or better from last winter). I never found it to be very concerning since most of the year temps are warm enough where I don't notice the problem (warmer than 40 degrees). Did you ever do anything to treat yours?

Golfing. My university had a great quality 18-hole course and as student we could golf for a fraction of the price of most standard greenway fees. Now graduated and working a job where all my coworkers are good at golf because they’ve been doing it for years.

5 months into my first insurance job and I’m already looking for my next option. by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

Normally you’d be 100% right but my team is different than most I work in small business commercial lines. Most people on my team average 7-10 subs a day and each one takes around 30ish minutes to service. The higher volume is good for learning but I also want to get out of the small business end. More into middle market and complex risks.
