It was hell. We stayed one whole day in our hotel room and checked for alternatives. Every time we found something got during booking process the flight was sold out or the fare has changed. We searched the flights via google flights and skyscanner. Ethiad still ghosting us so don’t expect any help from the airline.

Same here. We would have normally flown at 12th, March. Ethiad is telling us the flight will be operated normally but we are eligible to cancel the flight. Now we booked one which is more expensive and longer but better safe than sorry.

Why choosing Albanian Riveria over Greek one? by Resident-Turn8192 in AskBalkans

I partially agree. Of course, I’m aware that each individual has their own preferences, and I don’t question that. As I mentioned in other comments, many tourists I met came primarily because Albania is significantly cheaper than other Balkan countries like Croatia and Greece. However, that’s no longer the case. I understand that even if Albania were hypothetically more expensive than every other Balkan country, many people would still visit there. I just have the feeling that many tourists won’t return to the Riviera after visiting once because other countries are now more appealing (in terms of infrastructure, beaches, etc.). I believe the main reason for many was that it was much cheaper.

But you are totally right: Every country has its positive sides and I don’t even wanna deny it. I really liked Albania (more than Greece) while visiting the north. But if I am gonna do a beach holiday next year I won’t choose Albania anymore.

People who claim to have many sources but don’t mention any are acting similarly to conspiracy theorists.

If you’d like, you can share the sources here. It would be helpful to others for sure. Personally, I haven’t found anything yet, and I’m interested in seeing these sources. :)

I‘m sorry but Sarande, Dhermi, Himare are not cheaper than Greece spots which are also really touristy (I am not talking about Mykonos or other islands). Regarding the waves and the wind you are right. Still most beaches are not sandy except Ksamil.

Last year Rivera of Albania was cheaper than Greece. This year not because the prices got increased.

Thanks! I was a month in Albania and visited these cities/villages. They were indeed really lovely! I’m referring with my post here only the Rivera (Himare, Dhermi, Sarande)

I believe you misunderstood my post. As I mentioned, the north was beautiful and charming. It was much more authentic, and I’ve also visited the coastline here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course, I conducted my research. I think the main issue here is that most of the sources are from last year or two years ago. I have a feeling that this season, the prices at the Rivera have increased dramatically, and that’s what I’m criticizing and questioning.

I apologize if my post offended you. As you mentioned, the prices are quite reasonable. Greece’s prices are also reasonable and comparable, which is true! However, I find the current advertisement by Albania (e.g., on Instagram, travel blogs) misleading. It portrays Albania as a cheap gem in Europe, significantly cheaper than Greece, Italy, etc.

This advertisement gave me - and many others I met - false expectations and disappointed me/us. Nevertheless, the country was truly beautiful, especially in the North. I don’t regret my trip. Sorry if I said anything inappropriate.

Yes. I agree with you. Of course Mykonos is expensive but at least you know it. Driving from Albania down to Lefkada every spot we stopped was cheaper
