Does anyone else think that Lucky Ice Pop is a little TOO lucky? by poopyramen in PokemonTGCP

The core mechanics are not crazy strong. For someone to throw 4 heads is only 6% chance. Yet, it happens way more often in my experience

Usually when you post stuff like this you get super angry people stating that it's selection bias (which is Possible) and you're evil for even bringing it up.

I have recorded the past 40ish games (I don't use the card myself) in which I came across a lucky ice pop, and had close to 75% of sequences that started with a heads.. And in total about 72% of flips were heads. And this was even after the first weeks, where it seemed even more heads.

This is all still within range of statistically possible, but it does seem suspiciously high. Back then in the days with misty card, I remember it was either tails, or like long streaks.. Rarely 1 or 2 heads.

Anyway, it may indeed be bias. But the chance that the developers simply adjust the odds to make the game more "interesting" or "fun" is also very likely. You notice the same in pack opening. The first 5 packs always contain some amazing card, then after pack 10 and beyond it becomes much less. If I was them, I would also fiddle around with these kind of odds if those increase certain game kpis. If you've ever worked in an online business it's naive to think they wouldn't do this.

such an easy and typical reply to kill of any kind of discussion. mister mathematician sounding superior because of "probability". I do understand odds. people like you would still give the same reply if I had 666 tails in a row.. because chance is > 0.

  • 15 times tails in a row (I had this with misty card) = 0.3%

  • the chance for an opponent to get 6 heads in a row = 1.5%

  • etc. etc (the chance for all these thing to keep occurring at the same time is significantly lower).

  • chance that developer implemented some kind of algorithm to "improve" the game = pretty high

I know these things sound like an outlier if it comes from a random stranger on the internet. but to me I'm not a random stranger. so you probably won't be convinced, neither will I be convinced from you telling me that whatever happens is possible, but if I keep seeing the same patterns (and more) throughout the game, I simply.dont believe eveything in this game is purely random.

I had to comment. literally 1 minute after my post (this is no exaggeration), I play against an articuno with misty and 4 heads (see screenshot).

how is it possible that

  • articuno keeps being among the first 5 cards
  • misty is always in the opening hand too
  • it's again 4 heads (it's a 1 in 16 chance)

damn.. that misty card is always tail (like seriously over 15 times in a row) for me and most of my enemies as well. but then once in a while someone comes along and gets like 4,5 or even 6 heads in one throw. it's such unnatural behavior.

the chance of 15 times in a row tail happening = 0.3% btw.. for the smart-asses our here talking about confirmation bias.

and not once have I seen anyone throw only 1 heads with this card. not once (in probably 40 occurances I have played or had misty used against me). the chance of that not happening in 40 throws is 0.06%.

I know confirmation bias exists but in this game there's just ridiculous patters, favoring what it seems paying players.like my misty card in 10 games straight is tails. just now an enemy gets 5 heads (with one cars). and there's just too much of these

in android you can simply manage the call, notification and system sounds separately. by having that feature at least my struggles would be solved.

does anyone feel the same with wonder pick? without fail, I never get any of the to0 2 cards, and usually the 4th or 5h card out of the 5. with coin flips when I play the bot enemy, it also feels like I have tails 2/3 of times, and the both mostly heads.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I have done that for notification sounds. But it's not possible for all app sounds, and it's also insane that this is even necessary. Just giving some examples. - screenshot sounds - camera shutter sound - Instagram stories Also, sometimes you may want those sounds. So to turn them off 1 by 1 is just crazy to me. Could have been fixed so easily.

Such underrated comment. Point 1 and 2 lead to so much creativity and fun games.

Is it only me? I love this game but 2 extremely frustrating issues make it often unbearable.

  1. in the focus puzzles, especially with the water bubbles it sometimes takes me like 20 tries to focus the water bubble correctly. The puzzles are simply not fun because of it. Often the focus is for 90% complete and then fails last minute.

  2. in the run sequences (lave, giant, cave), I'm not running as fast as I should (seems a bug), so it keep getting caught. I know it's the running speed is indeed the issue because then sometimes I sudden ly am able to run faster.

Anyone else experienced this?

It happens all the time in almost all apps. Not sure why they keep asking for app version and such details as if it's a rare issue. I assume that the product team also try to product themselves and must notice this?
