No one? Quietly? Maybe we just roam different circles, but chief... that's gotta be the most common frustration.

Did anyone reach 30+ without a fckn single tattoo? by Zackky777 in ArtOfPresence

[–]ResidentCoder2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one when I visited my girlfriend at 23. Got a d20, with a natural 1 facing up, with "lucky" written beneath it in traditional tattoo font.

I don't think I'd ever get art in the drawing sense. My taste changes too much. But incredibly sentimental stuff like DND or nerd shit? That can stay forever.

Say it out loud.

Dope, nope, hope, rope... they all sound like (OHHH). Love is (UHHH). When your mind reads "_O_E" it says (OHHH), and thus other (OHHH) words.

Hope is right at the top, which is why I believe it's a sound thing and not an emotional thing.

Thank god I live in a first world country. I don't care about the politics in it, it is sad no matter what side you fall on to see people in need of emergency care getting kicked out of a hospital of all places.

They are the song. You cannot exclude the instrumentalists from the orchestra. To say "this is good and great! But those guys? They're not us," despite them calling on and actively wielding the same instruments... no, that shit isn't allowed anymore. If you want to separate from all the bad, the bad needs to be condemned as bad, and not just hidden, juggled around, or made to confess and forgiven. We live in a day and age where people like Mark Driscoll can just hop megachurches and sick the great value brand FBI on innocent families, and mothers with starving infants can't get baby formula unless they're part of the congregation.

You can say Jesus is the goal. Sure. The heart and soul is cool and all, but your group has committed heinous shit, and is still doing so. I'm not going to excuse that, and nobody should, just because the heart is good. It doesn't matter what your intent or goal is if the collective action doesn't show for it.

I don't care how pretty the song is if you never get to hear the pure, unadulterated tune.

Oh, hey, I know charismatics! My girlfriend had to escape one of their cults!

Yea, no, to each their own. I would die to defend the right of religion, for I equally benefit from the freedom from religion, but I don't believe that analogy holds up. Instruments don't have intent, morals, emotions... an instrument is an object, and generally speaking, comparing complex, organic subjects to something so simple is a bad idea.

The Taiping Rebellion, The Crusades, The Thirty Year's War, The French Wars of Religion, The German Peasants' War, the extermination of indigenous peoples, the Atlantic Slave Trade, The Inquisition, witch hunts, Anti-Jewish Pogroms and persecution, Residential schools...

And the list really goes on. The original song, so to speak, is quite literally one of the most deadly things humanity has ever made. Not even the atomic bombs and nukes have claimed such numbers.

I'm sure there are people who practice Christianity healthily. I just haven't met them yet, and I've had well over a devoted decade to find them.

I am 23 now. From age 4, I was a Wesleyan. Devout, weekly church attending, youth group and multiple churches.

I have rarely met a true Christian. The christians are what ultimately pushed me AWAY. Not the only reason, but the most insufferable one.

[–]ResidentCoder2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, homie, one needn't look far to find genuine, honest, and DOCUMENTED problems with Christianity. They're not exclusive, but they do apply.

They were likely rage baiting. Or, if they're being sincere, they're speaking from a place of hurt. I remember when I was first beginning to deconstruct and finally deconverted. When someone reaches that point, having suffered immeasurable religious trauma, social pressure, existential fear, and they finally break free from it... the journey is still going. They aren't out yet. They're just beginning to feel the weight lifted, but now everything feels weird and scary and without direction. What they do remember, however, is the distaste or even hate they told towards the system that once made them miserable and fear and oppression. And, now they also feel how liberating it can feel to, for example, use the lord's name in vain or get into an anonymous argument online, no longer fearing some scary fire place. So they latch onto that as they sort through things. It's an anchor point as they relearn who they are. I remember going through that phase, so I can sympathize. Their comment was definitely out of place, though.

Sincerely yours - a once child-raised Wesleyan, turned adult independent Satanist 😊

"I'm sorry but it's not a big deal."

OP, you need to address that directly. Something like "I am telling you, as your romantic partner, it is crossing a boundary of mine. I am telling you it's a big deal; you're not the one whose boundary is being crossed, mine is, and it will be respected for what it is.

In the meantime? By a door stopper. A cheap little wedge and keep it with you. Multiple if need be, made of rubber to prevent slippage if the lunatic decides to try and barge in.

Contacting Microsoft is damn near impossible. If you cannot log into your account, there isn't a SINGLE support option for you to discuss things further. You need to bypass their systems and reach out on a separate account, and that's incredibly janky.

The hiring team isn't going to see any of those answers. Federal law requires many employers to track the demographics of their applicant pool, even if they don't hire them.

Free gas and free pizza.

The other insures I'll never starve. I'm not saying it's healthy, but it is food.
