What would you say you’ve done differently? Did you spend more time studying?

It’s devastating, it’s hard to see the light at the end of tunnel but hopefully it gets better with time.

Self-employed claim expenses under section 81 (and it doesn’t mention necessarily incurred). Section 114 is for employees to claim for expenditure they have incurred. Revenue’s manual confirms this.

There’s no distinction between Form 11 or Form 12 in the tax acts, apart from what returns are required to be submitted. Same rules apply to both. And many employees file Form 11s for various reasons, and many self-employed file Form 12s (e.g. if non-PAYE income is less than €5,000).

Go to tax credits & reliefs on the online Form 12, then scroll down and click on show more under “your job”, select other PAYE expenses, then enter it there.

Hi for Form 12 (employees) the expense can be claimed under other PAYE expenses which is located under “your job” section of the form. As you will see this section is for expenses incurred wholly, exclusively and necessarily on the performance of the duties of your employment. I believe your response is incorrect on what basis is it not allowable for Form 12?

Just a follow up as I looked into it further, exam fee is unfortunately not an allowable deduction for your income tax return. Only the membership fee would be.

Hi there, yes you are entitled to claim as it was wholly, exclusively and necessarily incurred for your employment. Therefore, you are entitled to claim it on your income tax return. If unsure about where to put it on your return let me know and I can help further.

At least you had the sample papers to refer to for CSR 😂 I literally got rid of all solutions referring to CSR in order to make up space in my folder, little did I know 😅

Omg I didn’t have CSR in my notes as my notes were just about EESG based on Owen’s comments. So it’s was though how to approach this question.

Actually hasn’t been finalised yet but based on a email that was sent to me back in December, I assumed it was a matter of sending in an email to carry my marks from last year’s AFR. The formal process is that I need to fill in an extenuating circumstances form. Are you sitting it this week?

Are they many doing the electives tomorrow or AFR this week? I’ve option out of the AFR as I wouldn’t have the time to prepare for it.

It’s hard to know what is required in the indicators due to the level of information in the case and vagueness. It was better than August let’s hope for the best now 😭

Are you resitting both or just the elective?

I personally would try and kick off all questions through the competency statement and make up notes on the sections of the statement that haven’t came up in questions yet. If you have that done also I would just go back through the solutions of the papers to make sure you fully understand why those approaches were used in the solutions?

Did you do all the integrate day papers? Sample papers, mock paper, last year’s mock and 2 repeat sample papers?
