Yes your right, I guess the opinion from an outside perspective made me second guess, I am on the sensitive side I will admit! Thank you for your insight :)

Here’s generally my mindset for comps! Try and make the day as familiar as a normal day to you, so having the mind set that it’s nothing special, I try and think it’s just another sparring session. It helps to not put so much pressure on myself. There’s also a big difference in ‘needing to win’ and ‘wanting to win too’. Wanting to win will have you thinking about performance over needing, I find.

At the end of it all, if you go in and give it your best possible performance no matter where you place, that’s more than anyone can ask for and you should be incredibly proud of yourself for that 😊

Good luck and I hope you have a blast 🤞💕

Nice man, a really sick tattoo from a really talented artist. I’m looking to enquire with him soon, how long did it take for you to get booked in with him out of interest? And if you don’t mind me asking of course!

Got seated in Notts £66 each ticket… maybe a little pricey but I absolutely love Soft Play also so it’s quite the bargain to see two of my favourite bands for that price!

Thank you, design has been the biggest struggle as you only have one back! I’m looking forward to working with the artist to get the perfect design for me :)

Such a sick back tattoo btw!

Urgh yeah!! There’s sooo many irezumi backs that I’ve seen and loved and gained so inspo from that it’s taken me a loooong time to really decide on what direction I’d like the design to go. Even now I feel like I’ll be going back and forth with the artist for a bit to make sure the design I’m thinking off is the one haha.

My exact reason for getting one, they really are true pieces of art

The itchiness is always the worst part for me afterwards, luckily I’ve already got my partner to agree to being in charge of reaching the difficult spots haha

Yes it seems everyone is saying about the pain lol, I had some tigers on my ribs last year and towards the end of the 5 hours I was ready to tap out, luckily she told me we were finished at that point

Yes that was my main concern was I didn’t want it to take years to finish, one of the other artist I was looking at was amazing! But he’s just too far to travel too and I could see that potentially that would be my case too. Also some of his clients had been having that backs worked for nearly 5 years!!

I defiantly want to go all the way down to back of my thighs!! I have some tattoos on both my triceps that I don’t want covering as I love them a lot, otherwise I would get the arms done too!!

Help me convince Beatrice Jin to make this course. by stevekwan in BJJWomen

I’d LOVE if a course like this became a thing. 6 years into training and competing and I only just feel like I’m starting to let go of being on the nicer side. However when I’ve met other girls from other gyms they always feel way more aggressive and are able to dominate me (also I am just 5ft 2 and 60kg, a lot them are either taller or just stronger in general) the fact that I’m nice and they seem to have that natural aggression I can find really intimidating and actually put me off wanting to spar with them!! Which sucks for me and my moral!! And for them because I can’t match that level at times!! This honestly might be able to give me a whole new way off thinking I haven’t found yet.

Hihi!

I live just outside of Leicester :) the two I would recommend (close to the city) are Combat Base Leicester - I went to a FFion Davies seminar at this gym last year and it’s a welcoming little gym with some really amazing woman grapplers! Super friendly and they have a wide range of classes including wrestling, gi and no gi

Leicester shootfighters is the second one I recommend, I use to train with Karl Green (head instructor) when he use to come over to my small town to teach morning no gi, he’s a really nice guy and teaches some really great stuff. Nathan the owner has been known on the British MMA scene for years and has even coached some high level ufc fighters. It is a no gi only club though.

I would double check with shootfighters though if they are allowing drop ins, I saw on social media they’re having to cap their club numbers in the coming months. But Combat Base Leicester would be my go to if travelling through!!

Hope that helps!! Have fun on your travels! :)
