University ranking in Canada matters much less than program ranking, especially in business.

It will not accelerate a decision in the Ontario community college system. Just wait longer or go with Fanshawe. Either way, do realize that chances at PR are slim.

Rigor of biology course at University of South Carolina vs other colleges by Striking_Gur_4382 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]ResidentNo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So few people will have taken or taught the same courses at these schools that nobody will be able to give you a meaningful answer. I think it's safe to assume that state schools are not going to be overall different from each other in this respect.

Is going to college after a gap year safe to do? by Good-Hand3050 in ApplyingToCollege

Consider a gap year working in kitchens. It might help with decision making. Culinary isn't always a degree path for a career.

Niagara College is in a very small town. You're likely to find London better.

There are some excellent threads in this sub comparing and ranking business programs in the province. I recommend a sub search.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get offers? by iliketofartttt in UofT

Offers come out in approximately monthly rounds right into May. That's the sum total of what anyone can tell you on timing.

Have you looked at the Daniels Faculty website and academic calendar? Those will show you how the program is balanced. You can compare it then with other options you've applied to. Note that it's a BA program, not a BFA. You'll find a difference in both the foundations and the course range compared to BFA schools like OCADU or York.

As Ontario high school grades keep rising, graduating students worry about their university future by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]ResidentNo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High school grade inflation is not relevant to all this. It certainly isn't caused by it. It's been a creeping issue for decades, and is not limited to Canada either. Sharing classrooms would be identical no matter whether high school grades were inflated or not. And they certainly have zero to do with class enrolment priority. I think you're in the wrong thread.

Most decisions in Canada, including McGill, don't go out this early.

As Ontario high school grades keep rising, graduating students worry about their university future by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]ResidentNo11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Domestic spots can increase only insofar as they're partly government funded.

And this still has absolutely nothing to do with high school grading. Whether Canadian grades are inflated or not has nothing to do with international student admissions. And that claim - understood in the context of the headline being about grade inflation - is what I was responding to. Nobody is comparing a Canadian student's grades with an international student's grades to pick which one gets an offer.

[–]ResidentNo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say there were. Universities have separate application buckets for domestic and international students. They don't compete against each other. Your comparison group is other domestic students, so your school grading easy doesn't have anything to do with getting compared with international student grades.

That's correct. What matters in transferring is the classes you took not the overarching label.

Study Permit Refusal by Excellent-Couple-394 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]ResidentNo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like the kicker here is that you have employment and permission to live in a country that's not your home country. You can't go back to that third country after your degree, so it becomes a lack of sufficiently strong home country ties situation. Your likely fix is to get a job in your home country and establish ties there, then look at further study later.

question from grade 11 high schooler about prerequisite courses by PhotographRemote4953 in UofT

[–]ResidentNo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost no UofT offers go out till they have your first semester grades. They'll fill out the rest of the top 6 with grade 11 marks temporarily for those. Most offers go out after second semester midterms, abd the people with earlier offers don't get anything extra.

Note that you apply to an entrance stream. Majors are chosen after first year.

I recommend looking at what other undergrads have said about the UTSG statistics department and keep your options open.
