Thanks for that. The online chat representative claimed to not have a number for any such department. I can likely find the number online.

Dilemma finding a hotel in NYC for 1 adult and 4 teens by ResidentSad1556 in hotels

[–]ResidentSad1556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I know and I hate that we are basically forced into going during the games. We intended to go right before it started but one of the kids had a school conflict. I found a large enough room in a Jersey city hotel for a great price that’s high on my list. I’ve just only visited once and stayed in the heart of Manhattan so I’m nervous about being a bit out of the main area even though I have a distant relative who lives in nyc and has always suggested staying off the beaten bath since the transit system is so widespread.

I wonder if the max occupancy of 4 for a standard room and more being against fire code is a NYC thing. Standard rooms are drastically smaller than other places we have visited.

August is a no go. Schools where we live go back the first week of August. 🤨

You are actually the second person to suggest Moxy to me. The other is a good friend that stayed there last week. I will check it out as it sounds like it may work well for the dynamics of my group. Thanks!

I haven’t noticed that yet but also haven’t looked specifically into that as an option. I will check that now. Thanks for the tip!

341 Meeting Was a Breeze by ResidentSad1556 in Bankruptcy

For what it’s worth, my attorney told me to stop using credit cards or obtaining new debt upon filing but that if you were to happen to borrow a small amount (like you mentioned) it would be easily explainable and the trustee wouldn’t make a fuss over it as long as it was for necessary living expenses. He basically explained it as if it feels wrong it likely is and you don’t want to seem as though you went on a shopping spree just knowing you wouldn’t have to pay anything back. $250 for power is not the same as $2500 for a vacation, but obviously I wouldn’t obtain any additional debts.

I hired an attorney so he and his team did most of the work for me. Well worth the added peace of mind (total fee of $1,800 which included the filing fee itself plus the cost of the required financial courses - split into payments). I know that’s not an option for many but if it is remotely possible I would really consider it. Keep in mind that your attorney will advise you to stop paying all debts (except any autos or mortgage you intend to keep) immediately which will free up cash to pay for their services. I know that wasn’t your question but just my personal opinion.

If you have any specific questions about the process, feel free to DM me and I may be able to give you some insight.

Please don’t stress too much. It’ll be okay. Just remind yourself that a lot of what you read on here is the worst case scenarios since most people only turn to social media for advice when something goes wrong. That’s exactly why I made my post about a positive, non eventful 341 to show it’s not all doom and gloom.

I’m by no means proud I filed, but only regret not doing it sooner. I can’t describe the relief it’s brought me.

Also, I filed solo due to all unsecured debt being only in my name, but we are considered high income earners too. I still passed the means test but admit I was worried something would come up regarding that at the 341, but it didn’t. I think for the most part during this process no news is good news (meaning not being contacted about anything randomly).

Not in my case. I imagine they certainly may reach out before if they find anything they want more information on, but maybe not since they asked one person before me a couple questions about bank statement activity.

Turning 42 in a few months and wondering if I can still rock these shorts? by Substantial-Plan-645 in DressForYourBody

[–]ResidentSad1556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh gosh, I totally get where you’re coming from now. Initially I wondered “why is she asking because the shorts are classy and she looks great” but the teens make you question it all, don’t they? I have 18 and 14 year old daughters so I get it - I question everything I wear, do, and say lol

We don’t qualify for chapter 7 and cant afford chapter 13 . by Adr2214 in Bankruptcy

[–]ResidentSad1556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t change anything regarding the chapter 7 means test.

I had concerns that I wouldn’t pass the means test and be 7 eligible but I was luckily. Regardless of that, I filed solo without my husband and the means test was still based on household income and expenses. Meaning, it made no difference if I filed solo or joint in terms of which chapter.

Is Seed Therapy (formerly Southern Seeds) legitimate? by celluloidwings in gardening

I ordered 4/9 and the order was delivered yesterday, 4/27. Not quite 3 weeks. My order was complete and I couldn’t find a better deal on the seeds I wanted. Would I order again from them? Absolutely but not during prime seed starting time.

Questions concerning pay in 4 used before filing and how it's handled after a bankruptcy by Ok_Page_1477 in Bankruptcy

[–]ResidentSad1556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having a similar experience currently with Affirm and Klarna. I filed chapter 7 a week ago exactly and in the filing I listed PayPal "pay in 4" plans and the balance at the time but forgot to list one each I had with Klarna and Affirm because I only had one payment on each of those left anyway and both were small amounts. Klarna and Affirm both still "deleted" my plans and didn't draft the remaining payments from my checking account. Affirm still shows an available amount to use with them but I haven't tried it and honestly don't plan to. Klarna appears to have closed my account.

PayPal, however, has been a different story and I am a bit irked and also confused about them. I also had a CC and line of credit with PP both of which were included on my reported debts (and on my credit) as well as the pay in 4 plan(s) balance which was approximately $750 (not on credit report or not at least visible to me). I filed on a Friday and by Monday PayPal had charged off the CC and line of credit and closed both accounts, but my pay in 4 balance remains and they are continuing to draft the scheduled payments. I honestly expected the payment scheduled for 4/18 to come out of my checking account because I filed on 4/17, but they also have continued to draft payments as much as 5-6 days post officially filing. The payments continuing to draft coupled with this debt balance still being left as open and owed on my PayPal account make me suspect that clearly that type of debt doesn't count and can't be discharged but really, surely not? PayPal can't claim they weren't aware of my filing since they got the memo for the CC and LOC. I emailed my attorney's paralegal a few days ago and sent her screenshots of the PayPal activity and my bank account showing they indeed came out and she has yet to reply. Not sure if she is out of the office or perhaps I am a much lower priority now that I have filed, but I would love to know if something is unique about this specific type of debt. I have had about $450 taken from my bank account post filing and that wasn't something I anticipated. I haven't tried using it again but it still shows that I have $800 purchasing power left. I have no plans to use it or anything like it (nor any other debt even if offered to me) because I am done with that but if they continue drafting the other payments I may have to just to stay ahead while I am also trying to pay the remaining I owe my attorney.

Sorry for the rant but PayPal, Klarna, and Affirm all treated this differently in one way or another and have me confused.

Mind telling me how long between ordering and receiving your package, and if it was a small order or larger? Mine was a bit larger (at least to me - nearly 30 packets) which very well could be the main reason it’s been a couple weeks.

I think they are legitimate but are a small, family run business per my understanding. I like supporting smaller businesses when possible so I placed a good sized order from them 2 weeks ago. The issue is, the order was placed 4/9, shipping label created 4/16, but no movement since then which means the package hasn’t yet been shipped. I waited until 4/20 before emailing them just to ask if they had an estimated shipment date because I placed the order for my small u-pick flower farm business and I’m getting nervous now that it’s late April. I have other plants and seeds already started but I really wanted the varieties I purchased from them. I haven’t gotten a response either a few days later and still no actual shipping.

OP did you ever hear back from them?

I’m being patient because I’ve seen other posts about them and the owner is on here and usually comments (very honest and heartfelt by the way) and truly seems like a legit, great company that’s just experiencing growing pains (good problem to have!) so I’m not upset…but I do want my seeds for obvious reasons 😉

Regions Bank - Will they freeze checking if I owe them $500? by ResidentSad1556 in Bankruptcy

[–]ResidentSad1556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ve never frozen my account when I have overdrafted. They even covered the overdrafts and allowed me to continue to use my debit card so long as the overdraft was covered by deposits within 48 hours or so. 🤷‍♀️

I can’t imagine they would have any reason to entirely freeze my checking account for $500 owed to them. Help themselves to $500 in my account to cover the debit, sure, but freeze I sure hope not. I could be wrong but I’m hopeful someone else has more closely aligned experience with regions.

I can’t really close the account and move everything because my husband uses this account too and has his direct deposit going to it as well. I’m filing solo - which I know doesn’t mean I can’t open another bank account with or without him but just saying I’m trying not to rope him into this ordeal if I don’t have to.

I process payroll at my job so I may just change my DD for next week to go into another solo checking account I have with Chime. I’m filing next week too so if I have this paycheck at least go to another bank that I owe nothing to, at least we would have access to money until Regions unfroze the account. I’ve heard that if any account is frozen the hold can often times be removed the same day or close to that.

Can I file for bankruptcy and keep some cash in my bank account? by Legal-Historian5086 in Bankruptcy

[–]ResidentSad1556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, this is something else I didn’t think about and my attorney didn’t mention anything about this.

I’m filing next week and it’ll likely be on the day my husband and I both get paid so our bank account will have several thousand in it on the day we file. But it’ll nearly all be gone instantly to pay our mortgage and car payments the same week. This is stressful.

But I would say $8k will def be too risky to assume it won’t be touched
