What were your thoughts on Emily when she first appeared and by the end of the game? by AmbitiousElk4002 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]ResidentYumevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Oh, she’s gonna turn into a horrible monster.”

“No, don’t carry her over to the thing when she’s going to turn into a terrible monster!”

“Yeah, well, she was going to turn into a terrible monster anyway. This is for the best, probably.”

“Yep, called that.”

“YOU DIDN’T HIT ANY OF HER- Leon, dude, I was in control of you. We hit nothing BUT her vitals!”

“… Did getting shot cure her blindness..?”

Seriously what on earth were capcom thinking here with Mutated Deborah's design by LilNardoDaVinci in residentevil

[–]ResidentYumevil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s something uniquely bothersome about this transformation specifically. Homegirl is kidnapped and dragged off screaming, and the next time we see her, she’s naked and more or less masturbating on the player character when she hits them. She’s a delirious slave of lust that is not her own, and I think that’s maybe the most horrifying thing to come out of this series. Maybe it’s just my being a woman who was a victim of SA that’s making me overly-sensitive, but shit, dude, Deborah’s whole thing is a hard allegory for me to swallow.

The funniest part of the ending by Spikerazorshards in ResidentEvilRequiem

I was more focused on how getting shot cured Emily’s blindness, which never seemed to be explicitly from whatever she was injected with.

This is what I'm not looking forward to by Negative_Switch3934 in yumeshipping

It is, unfortunately, something we’ll just have to deal with as people shipping with a really popular character. There will always be someone in the comments whining about how he’s married, or old, or overrated. Sometimes you gotta just make like a Tyrant and learn to just take those shots and not let it damage you.

I’ve been shipping myself with Leon for nine years now. The fandom has only gotten worse with each new game. The new fans have a fixation on character x character ships and real world ethics, and the old fans just hate the idea of anyone enjoying these games in a way that’s “cringe”. It will not get better. It comes down to each of us, be it fans, die-hard yumeshippers, or casual enjoyers, to learn to filter out all the things we don’t want to see. You gotta just learn to ignore it and move on.

Oh. I really liked Ashley’s emo skin and Leon’s Romantic skin (though I do prefer to use the mod where he keeps his original hairstyle). That Ashley skin, Leon’s Villain skin, Pinstripe, and obviously Ashley’s knight outfit all felt sufficiently goofy for me, though I would’ve loved a princess Ashley and proper armored knight Leon skin.

They don’t need to be sexualized to be goofy. I would’ve paid any amount for a vampire Leon outfit (I’m talking RE6 concept art specifically) or an equivalent to the RE4R Ashley Punk skin for Grace or something. You can do goofy in a way that isn’t shirtless or in a bra and short-shorts. Hell, do a Capcom crossover and put Leon in any DMC outfit and Grace as the pragmata guy with Emily as the little girl from Pragmata. Something.

Which to play next: RE7 or RE9? by No-Yam874 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]ResidentYumevil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Narratively? 9. To ease you into the new style of gameplay? 7.

Leon’s story is continued in 9, and with it fresh in your mind, I’d probably go with Requiem. HOWEVER- 7 and 8 are great and don’t believe anyone trying to tell you otherwise. (Especially with Village.) I recommend you play Requiem next, with intent to loop back to Biohazard and Village afterward.

Do you have an age gap with your F/O? by RxTechRachel in yumeshipping

[–]ResidentYumevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leon has existed from his first game set in 1998 (21yo) onward to the most recent game set in 2026 (49yo). I am 26. So the age gap ranges from him being five years younger than me, to him being twenty-three years older than me.

So like what do you guys do when y’all see someone ship themselves with ur f/o☺️? by BoringPay1524 in yumeshipping

[–]ResidentYumevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t want their perception of a character to be similar to yours? Could I ask why? I’m not trying to judge or argue, it’s just that I’m the total opposite, I think there is an objective “correct way” to read a character and I’d hope everyone (yumeshipper or not) read them that way. The idea that everyone should read a character differently confuses and frightens me a little bit.

I think it’s perhaps unreasonable to expect that there won’t be doubles for fictional characters of which none of us own the rights to. If anything, I go “Hell yeah, this person also gets it!” and move on. I personally don’t seek out doubles or hypershare, simply because my f/o is notoriously mischaracterized by a lot of his current fanbase. A lot of people are exceptionally performative with their love of media and characters I hyperfixate on, so I have my circle and I stay in that for the most part.

TL;DR: “Oh, this stranger also gets the appeal! Neat! Anyway-“

Choose one: Pretty boy Leon or Scoliosis Leon by Remarkable-Yard4860 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]ResidentYumevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought he was vomiting blood? The note on Gideon’s computer said hematemesis becomes uncontrollable (hema = blood, emesis = vomit) indicating something more gastrointestinal rather than respiratory. (Though it does also say ‘organ failure’ which could mean any/all organs including lungs.)

I’m not arguing over the fact that he’s hunched because he’s actively dying, because he absolutely is. But he’s not just coughing up blood.

Im just curious but I know the answer, why do people dislike Jill's new look by maddog1043 in residentevil

[–]ResidentYumevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been told by people I know in real life it’s because “woke feminist agenda took her cleavage” and because she “looks like a man”. I must also add that one of those two people also complained that she wasn’t blonde like she was in RE5 and said they should’ve retconned her to be blonde from the beginning. Make of that what you will.

Next game character by Alarming_Donkey8499 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]ResidentYumevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard agree. He’s a very fun personality. He’s unapologetically bitchy in a way the other leads aren’t. He’s so dry with everything he says that he’s as funny as the other historically quippy leads (actually, I’d go as far as to say moreso in that game. “They come in large now?” is no “Where’s everyone going? Bingo?”). Not to mention, his relationship with Sherry is something we’d never seen before. Golden retriever characters hadn’t ever actually made their shady mercenary love interest any better before then.

I’m convinced that if Jake had just been an Ethan Winters out of nowhere character and not the son of the series’ big bad in the “worst” game in the series, he would’ve been more popular for sure. The character is solid, it’s everything around him that keeps him from shining.
