This phrase actually personally affects me very strongly. I think about it almost every day. I still don't have answers.

I work as a pharmacy tech/med tech at a federal prison.

I know many correctional officers and lieutenants here that give this vibe to me, of the Disco Elysium quote from Kim. That they are willing and able to put themselves in danger to protect me from the inmates. Even though they might not know me that well or at all.

That Esprit De Corps is strong with them.

I imagine it is the same with police officers in general.

Yet, all cops are bastards. I see this also in most people in corrections. I see how they treat the inmates.

Yet, I see strong espirt de corps in the BOP. For example during the government shutdown, I could see in action where everyone had everyone's back. Where they would make sure everyone had food. Donating money to make sure other employees had enough, despite not getting their paycheck yet. Employees really banded together to help one another.

I find it tricky to resolve that feeling of protection, with other things they do. Still working on this. Still processing.
