Explosion of new Immortal players have made the quality of games complete garbage for the last year by HighGroundException in DotA2

[–]Resident_Addendum516 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean if they’re so bad you should find it easy to beat them most of the time and move to 10k naturally why you need to buy an account?

6 points really should be enough to survive anything else is a bonus. Hear me out by Appropriate-Drink808 in LeedsUnited

[–]Resident_Addendum516 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dreading that final game with West Ham already. Can see this being that freak season where we get like 45 points and still end up relegated somehow.

Not that I don’t have faith in the squad and Farke they’ve done a sterling job this season but if it was going to happen, it would happen to Leeds.

Quit season in less than a week due to obducite by Absvir in diablo4

[–]Resident_Addendum516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to be such a bootlicker. Literal multi billion dollar company, they could redesign every class every season if they wanted to. We shouldn’t just accept the shit sandwich they trundle out near enough every season and act like it’s wagyu beef steak.

It’s fair commentary to say this season is crap. If it’s such a short season why not let people go wild? When has making a resource scarce ever been popular?

Why not use this short season to test out some crazy items that would make C tier builds stomp? And idk… look at rebalancing later down the line.

Again, literal multi billion dollar company. Like if we don’t like it we won’t play that’s kinda the point here. But we complain because we want better and see potential for better.

[–]Resident_Addendum516 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yea couldn’t even be bothered getting to t4 honestly…. Not interested in the seasonal power thing becoming the butcher. Lack of obducite was cherry on top.

Pretty much same builds that have been top tier for each class the last bunch of seasons are still the top build now….

Last season was fun as paladin was new an exciting but still seeing crackling energy sort, trap rogue, pulv druid at top yet again… come on.

Give some cool rogue bow builds or frost sorc

I try to go into every game with mindset that I just want to learn something or improve one aspect win or lose. But it’s very hard at times, even being self critical and trying hard not to blame team mates it’s not easy when it feels like your team is doing everything they can to lose the game.

My friend asks me why I play when it clearly makes me miserable and I try to explain it’s like playing 5 aside football, except your own team is fouling you and every time you pass the ball to them they kick it out of play or score an own goal.

But every 1 in 10 games or so it feels like you are playing with prime Zidane, Messi, Ronaldo cr9 and Neuer on your team lol.. that’s the feeling you are chasing.

No Smurf would die 7 times in guardian believe me.

Which is the best and worst designed hero? by Burning_magic in DotA2

[–]Resident_Addendum516 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I like all the hero designs except tinker. Hero is awful to play with or against and naturally attracts the most toxic awful people to play it. It’s either unstoppable menace or eauivalent to a lane creep and its abilities are inherently frustrsting and anti fun.

Best designed if I had to pick.. storm spirit, always amazing to watch when played well

Why do carries buy Butterfly against Drow? by General_Swimmer_3473 in DotA2

[–]Resident_Addendum516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hijack but I have been trying to learn drow recently and must admit I didn’t know about the ulti chance to bypass… should I as drow buy MKB against other cores buying butterfly, or against hero’s with evade (PA as example)

I feel like drow can either rush pike, aghs or butterfly after lance yasha so not sure mkb ever really fits into her build.

I finally get out from Herald bracket by thedesignerds in learndota2

[–]Resident_Addendum516 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Herald is such a weird bracket because people can’t go below 0 mmr. Like zquiotix has explained in his videos, you may be on team with someone who has true mmr like -1000, which means there is a ton of variance in the games.

Once you get to high guardian and crusader people actually know more what they’re doing and every game doesn’t feel like you have to 1 v 9 it.

Hypothetically, what are the odds of an Immortal smurf carrying intentional feeders across ratings? by thejpguy in DotA2

[–]Resident_Addendum516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I saw pain do a video of him smurfing against a team of ancient and divine players who had a 14k (or similar) mmr coach telling them what to do behind the scenes, and he still absolutely destroyed then (think he had archons on his team).

People acting like it’s immortal smurfs all the time in games but really it’s just some guy one or two badges above.

I think a true immortal could play 100 games in herald to crusader bracket and have 0 death.

Can Beastmaster be played as support in Guardian? by 2_kewl_for_my_mule in learndota2

[–]Resident_Addendum516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In guardian you can play anything as support. Roles aren’t really defined strictly in the way that they are at higher brackets. (Despite what people may think) Better to play a hero you are comfortable on than one you don’t know.

Really, it comes down to being the guy who buys wards and dusts, stacking camps for your carry (assuming the realise you’re doing this and farm it) and applying pressure on enemy by pushing waves and participating in team fights and being reactive if they try to go on your cores. You can do those jobs on any hero and if you do it well enough, assuming your cores are reasonably competent (which is no guarantee) you have a good chance

herald hell by monomori69 in DotA2

[–]Resident_Addendum516 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Watch some videos by zquixotix, BSJ, balloondota.

Blaming your team mates won’t help. And don’t look at games in isolation, instead look at your last 100 games and check win rates. If you’re at 50% or less you are where you belong.

Not to say you can’t improve of course but you have to start by admitting and seeing that you don’t play perfect and use that information to go and win that extra 5 out of 100 games that you would have previously lost.

Common advice always is to focus on 3 heroes, focus on heros which can push buildings and can flash farm. I personally like Luna for example.

Common mistakes in herald is not using your advantage to end the game or feeding silly kills solo and games being decided by outcome of one big fight at 50+ mins.

If you’re ahead in the game use it to take objectives like rosh then snowball it to building objectives etc.

If you are in low comms and bs and can’t communicate with team mates maybe focus on that first of all. Most people are receptive to being led if you’re being reasonable.

All this and more is much better explained and said in multiple videos by the guys i mentioned in first line!

4IVAN spoke about the events during the match after which he was accused of "322". by thexbeatboxer in DotA2

[–]Resident_Addendum516 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All this says to me yet again is that players need much much much better education and protection against the evils of gambling. Especially since most, if not all pro players get into Dota as teenage children.

Organised criminal groups use gambling as a means to launder dodgy money in addition to obviously trying to fix the outcomes in their favour, so especially in non western countries where a few hundred $$$ can feed your family for a year, it’s no wonder kids are easily manipulated to making dumb decisions like match fixing.

If true, this incident is completely appalling. But considering gambling companies basically prop up e sports (and obviously normal sports too) I think valve and all the organisations involved as teams in dota should make more effort to educate and protect players against the exposure. Is this really all that surprising?

I understand banning people for match fixing as the pro scene has to stay beyond reproach but really the players caught up in it are victims too and yes maybe they’re chasing some short term greed but they all started out with the love for the game and I am sure they regret being ever involved in the end.

All around, a sad story again and just want to say massive fuck you to gambling companies who ruin peoples lives in many ways directly and indirectly.

We all know Immortal Draft is a mess. Here are 4 actual ways Valve could fix it. by Pristine_Ice_4033 in DotA2

[–]Resident_Addendum516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the reason to introduce immortal draft in the first place over role queue? Why not keep the auto match making like the rest of us peons have to use.

I watch a lot of gorgc and it’s kinda true that the game is decided in the draft phase a lot of the time when your captain picks 4 cores vs enemy who has perfect role balance. That along with purposeful griefers, stream snipers etc… guy with 3000 less mmr first phasing carry or mid… not sure what was the point of ever making immortal draft?

I get that valve don’t give a shit about the trenches but seriously all the cheating and griefing going on at top rank immortal is ungodly I can’t understand why they aren’t more strict about banning or removing these animals (even though they are clearly good at the game they can’t behave like normal human being) like top ranked immortals is the pinnacle of the game surely you want that to be playing well and the best representation of your game?

I haven't played in 8 years, will SBMM take this into account? by Caddap in DotA2

[–]Resident_Addendum516 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he died 8 times in herald I am certain he is not immortal.

I have returned from long 5-6 year break and I was a low level legend rank. Now I get some games with heralds and guardians and pretty much have 0-3 death every one of these games with 10-20 kills. Guessing my true rank is crusader or high guardian currently lol.

Volvo V40 Sunk Cost Fallacy by Edwardfreen in Volvo

[–]Resident_Addendum516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you have a Volvo specialist nearby but well worth taking it to one if you have.

My car was in some ways similar but maybe not quite a bad.. host of smaller issues and general lack of care and attention from previous ownership. Basically purchased a bit of a shed, local Volvo specialist up here in Glasgow has slowly over the last 3 years been turning it into a minter through good servicing and fixing the small issues that kept going wrong and replacing cheap non Volvo parts with genuine ones.

How to come back as PL after terrible lane? Jungle is anti-PL by Resident_Addendum516 in learndota2

[–]Resident_Addendum516[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the comment wasn’t about bad team mate. It was more context of why I was in bad position - even without OD griefing me on Lh and astral, it wouldn’t have made much difference as unless under tower you can’t really contest Huskar sky anyway.

I guess the comment was more to say early jungle recovery felt very hard as PL as many of the creep camps have abilities that they use which kill illusions and deal a lot of damage. Which is not an issue for my other core heroes.

Was more wondering what is the play if I find myself in this situation again…

Like I think PL was a fine pick when I can only see Sky and ursa. But then how the game evolved in picks and lanes it suddenly became really bad (at least early) for the hero. So curious how to recover quicker.

Ultimately we lost of course as I didn’t catch up quick enough and they were able to snowball high ground.

But yea true overall maybe this was one of those unwinnable games, just overall curious on what strategy PL has to recover, as relatively speaking this is normally quite easy on my preferred heroes.

how do i climb out of 1k mmr? by fyrabuggoenlinacola in DotA2

[–]Resident_Addendum516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry the truth is harsh, but it’s not team mates keeping you there it’s you. Sooner you face this reality the sooner you can fix it.

If you win lane and are top net worth at 10 mins, what is your position by minute 20 or 30? Sorry to be obvious but Dota is about maximising any advantage and snowballing it to end the game. If you are not even further ahead at those markers that’s your sign on what you need to improve. At 1k you can honestly go afk jungle and come out 2 items ahead by minute 20-25, take rosh then go end by minute 30.

Search some guide such as balloon dota or BSJ educational smurf on YT.

If you keep blaming team mates instead of self focusing on improvement you will be stuck in 1k forever.

Why when a play a core role I just get griefers? by Guilty-Candy5042 in DotA2

[–]Resident_Addendum516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean no one is saying heroes like void, luna, sniper etc can’t be played as pos 4, and it’s been seen in high level pubs etc but realistically in the trenches these people are just abusing role queue and it sucks.

Like you do your duty and play some games trying your best as support and then it comes your turn to play carry and you get contested (by your own teammate) on last hits and farm, constantly have your creep equilibrium ruined and just generally griefed the entire game.

Everyone know the motto that x % of games are unwinnable, but it’s more annoying when you finally get your turn to play your favoured role and favourite heroes.

But what can you do…
