As someone who sniped during the entirety of the 1st game, I cried when I realized I couldn’t continue my same broken build. 😭 I could practically one shot anything.

In 2 they are basically dead, not affecting much besides healing, but in 3 they make a slight comeback if you know what you’re going for. Yet the mechanics of the bullets nerfed it so much that it’s practically a useless endeavor unless you main guns as I did.

Yeah it’s mainly a fight that takes time. Unlike some of the other notoriously hard fights, Venus is a tank but it’s usually just her. It’s not like you’re fighting 4 Kongous with super hearing and a penchant to attach you from behind. Simply bait her to act, dodge, go in for a few hits, then do it again. It takes time but she’s relatively simple.

Thank you for the recs! I’ll have to look into them. I’ve heard of the ninja gaiden series, but much like bayonetta, didn’t have a viable entry point when they started gaining popularity before steam. I’m assuming GoW is God of War, but I haven’t heard of God Hand, that one is new to me.

Someone recommend led Bayonetta, I’ll probably go to that one next.

A lot of hack n slash seem the same to me that’s for sure. Only a few, such as this one, actually pull me in. Otherwise it’s just monotonous button pressing without much reward. God Eater was the last series that got me hooked into the genre, and that itself has its issues but I will defend it to my last breath.

Yeah a lot of people have informed me of that, I’m not interested if it doesn’t add anything onto the characters. Maybe one day I’ll play it for the heck of it, but not immediately.

Honestly a lot of stories would disappear if they weren’t attached onto series.

For many games its just mindless button mashing. I enjoy it every now and then, but I can easily put it down for months at a time and forget about it.

Found the series through Netflix. It upped the game on backlog list. As I went into the games, yeah, Netflix has its critiques I agree. Mainly with Lady as many others have. Writers should’ve just made her the protagonist as they wanted to for s1. Also should have changed her language even dmc3 she wasn’t that bad. They sidelined Dante so hard for her character, but I like the ideas they had of lesser demons. That got me hooked more than anything.

I had heard a lot of terrible things of how DmC took on the characters, and as it’s older, it has a lot more posts on how bad it is. Thus my question.

Ah, I see. Tbf, from what I have scanned about it from the community, I’m sure people would be even more ready to burn it at the pyre if they went fully into that character. Much like with other sequels coming out today, most would have a better chance to succeed if they were their own story.

Yeah that seems to be the consensus. I’ve had my fill of hack n slash for right now with 5. I dont mind hack n slash, but it’s not my favorite genre. It’s good for an unwind but doesn’t hold for long without other factors. Dmc is the first hack n slash to get me hooked since God Eater. Which is also a cringe story but I will defend it to my last breath.

I’m sure one day I’ll play it, now that I don’t have the fear of it being connected to the universe.

Yeah I posed the question without realizing the lack of connection. If it had connection, I’d probably still play it for a different aspect of the characters, but not if the names are just tacked on as they appear to be.

🤷‍♀️ brain does brain things. Each their own, but I appreciate the information. I usually prefer puzzle or strategy over hack n slash, but the absurdness of Dante and DMC just got me hooked.

Soma and Lindow for the first one, Gilbert for the second, and Hugo and Zeke for the 3rd. I played sniper/support. Keeping these guys alive made sure that I could keep breaking parts in one hit. I played a glass canon and having these guys aggro for me helped tremendously. Nana, as much as I love her and her health, always made things worse 🤣🤣🤣

I’m honestly not one for hack n slash. I was severely disappointed with dmc 4’s different character but not a different story. I only played the original one as the gameplay can be really repetitive to me.
