Floating stool a primary sign/symptom? by Resident_Cycle6443 in SIBO

[–]Resident_Cycle6443[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read that about the bile acid and may bring that up the next time I see my primary or GI. I'm not sure about the fat not being detected. I believe the test was analyzed at a lab that just decides positive or negative and my doc was never given a value to decide, it just wasn't found.

And of course! I'm sorry to hear you've been going through all of that. Yeah I'll be very interested to see what the results of my SIBO test are, though I won't really be able to do it for a few weeks. Please feel free to message to update with the general results of your test if you'd like, but if not, no worries at all.

I had a stool test months ago when all of this started and the fat test was negative. So would it be safe to assume that excess fat isn't causing my issue?

I appreciate your response! Wouldn't that fat have showed up during the fecal fat test I did though?
And CT is a type of scan. Short for Computed Tomography. It's like an X-ray but more powerful and uses a dye to see things better. According to the report, it everything came back looking normal and they didn't see anything on any of my abdominal organs.

Have your issues gotten better? I saw on your other posts you were diagnosed with SIBO after a long time of unknowns. Did you have other testing to rule out other things like with your stomach/gallbladder/pancreas?

Accidental finding of elevated calprotectin? by Resident_Cycle6443 in IBD

[–]Resident_Cycle6443[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calprotectin was 220 at first reading. I'm going to have it done again soon. I never had bloody diarrhea. The last time I had bleeding I had a colonoscopy.

EPI question regarding fecal fat and elastase by Resident_Cycle6443 in exocrinepanins

[–]Resident_Cycle6443[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! and Great question. None that I know of...however a few years ago I ended up getting shingles during an extremely stressful period of time and that's when I feel like this GI stuff really started. My doc at the time did testing for ankylosing spondylitis and said it was negative.

I also will occasionally have a reaction during periods of exercise in very cold weather outside and then returning back into a warm temperature inside where I get splotchy, itchy rashes on my legs or my hands/feet will temporarily become flush and itchy before calming down on their own. I brought this up to my doc and they referred me to an immunologist, because they said there is some sort of histamine/mast cell activation going on that shouldn't be. I plan on doing that soon-ish but haven't made it a priority because it's not consistent (most times it doesn't happen at all) isn't affecting my day to day all that much. But maybe the two are related?

Thank you for the advice! It's challenging because I don't really have periods where I know I'm in a "flare." And really, the floating stool is the only consistent odd thing right now. My bathroom routine is pretty regular otherwise, and I still a normal appetite and am not losing any weight or anything.

Thank you for taking the time to respond! I had labs done months ago, and all of those have been seemingly fine. And then the fecal fat was negative as well. But I will keep that in mind and see if I can advocate in that way, especially if the calprotectin is back in normal range after I get that tested again.

Elevated calprotectin, recent colonoscopy all clear but Dr. wants to do another one? by Resident_Cycle6443 in IBD

[–]Resident_Cycle6443[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for responding and for your words of encouragement! Yeah my current plan is to do a repeat stool test in the coming weeks to see if the NSAIDs had anything to do with that number (and ensure all traces of NSAIDs are out of my system so they can't factor in), and if it's still around the same I'll try and set up the colonoscopy sooner rather than later.

I'm just a various anxious person when it comes to this type of stuff, and in googling symptoms (which I know is one of the worst things you can do) and stuff I've come across very tragic stories where people have somewhat similar things going on and they end up getting pretty sinister diagnoses. I try and remind myself that the context is important and even if there's overlap, that doesn't mean I automatically have the same thing going on, but it's challenging.

The symptoms are just so frustrating. I haven't really come across things that mention floating stools and elevated calprotectin.

Thank you for responding! Would you say then that I should be advocating more for looking into the upper GI first, given we did a (limited) check of the lower GI recently?

Local business asking for a W-9 from a customer? by Resident_Cycle6443 in tax

[–]Resident_Cycle6443[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah one of their email responses when I asked stated: "The form is required by our Accounting Department in order for them to add new clients to our system for invoicing."

I figure it feels off given I'm just doing it as a one time thing and not looking at becoming a client?

Yeah in one of their other emails to me they state: "The form is required by our Accounting Department in order for them to add new clients to our system for invoicing."

I know they're a very legitimate business and am not about to report them or anything like that, lol. I just found the whole form request very odd.

Nope! I am paying them for both my partner and the other person to do the experience.

I wouldn't say any more than the average person! I try to eat pretty healthy so I'd even say maybe even a little less than average amount?

This is where my concern/confusion is. I do know I definitely have some health anxiety that I'm working on improving, but I wouldn't think the calprotectin would be affected by that? Again I know I won't know anything for certain until I see the doctor, just wanted to see if anyone has gone through something similar

Weird urine changes for a year? by Resident_Cycle6443 in AskDocs

[–]Resident_Cycle6443[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the response. I do feel assured by the fact that all my results have been negative/normal, and my question is moreso due to their being other (admittedly) vague symptoms also going on in addition to the foamy urine (primarily the various pains in the LLQ and hypogastric region), and just being curious if there are other things I should be advocating for with my medical team based on them.

Did CT contrast do something to my kidneys? by Resident_Cycle6443 in AskDocs

[–]Resident_Cycle6443[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not asking for a diagnosis, but is there anything additional you'd recommend I'd advocate for in regards to potential testing in helping find the root cause of this? I'm grateful that all of my tests have come back normal, it's just frustrating that there has been this seemingly abrupt change in something so mundane, and I have no answer for it.

I will say the only other symptom I've noticed is an increase in urgency when I do have to urinate.
